Re: Fleet Reduction
Their CBA is good till 2035. So no worries. It’s not like other operators are flying for AC… oh wait

Re: Fleet Reduction
So if Jazz is shrinking quickly, why is PAL expanding? What did Jazz do wrong to p*ss off Air Canada?
Re: Fleet Reduction
Lease expiry doesn’t mean they won’t be renewed, as said guaranteed 80 aircraft to 2035, of course if the situation changes where we could staff more(unlikely), they could renew some of those, RJs will obviously be renewed given the fleet composition forecast.AA123455 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 8:26 am Chorus Q3 released today.

Re: Fleet Reduction
Nothing, it was self induced. AC screwed the Jazz pilots with the "flow" agreement so people stopped going there and eventually alot of captains left to AC. Instead of raising WAWACON they just went to PAL, like they did with GGN, Sky regional etc..
Re: Fleet Reduction
AC is spending millions on Jazz owned aircraft, via interior refurbishment, gate to gate internet, lighter seats and the latest is the 5 Skywest leases RJs are possibly being extended past the end of this year.
This is hard fact, exclusive of the lease extension which is so far rumor, this is not a signal of AC ridding themselves of Jazz.
They will always use the diversification tool, it has always worked in the past to keep Jazz pilots from getting too rigid, they want us to be in fear so we cave a little easier, that’s the true benefit of the long term contract, it can only improve, can’t get any worse.

Re: Fleet Reduction
Personally I think PAL is only being used as a stop gap until AC acquires more aircraft, and eventually PAL’s AC flying will be taken over by jets. Either JAZZ or mainline. The YYT, YOW, YQX, BOS and EWR routes out of YHZ should be done on a jet.
Re: Fleet Reduction
Those $million$ are a pittance compared to the billion that should have been spent on jet fleet renewal at Jazz/Express.cdnavater wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 2:39 pm AC is spending millions on Jazz owned aircraft, via interior refurbishment, gate to gate internet, lighter seats and the latest is the 5 Skywest leases RJs are possibly being extended past the end of this year.

New seats and bins do not equal job security.
Re: Fleet Reduction
A good share of the jet fleet is now approaching 20 years old. Maintenance guys leaving in droves as the competition pays more too.

Re: Fleet Reduction
The absence of a fleet renewal announcement (new jet airframes) in any fashion speaks volumes about the future of Express.
