Why would anyone be flying there in the first place?

There's a negative travel advisory - even their neighbours have closed the border.

Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

Hasn't changed. Years ago I was conducting a TC PPC check at Toussaint Louverture International Airport and on the second IFR approach tower told me not to come below 3000'. I was all set to argue and be difficult but asked why instead. "Small arms fire". Right, so I instructed the crew to use 3000' as the MDA.

Why would anyone ever fly to Haiti?

I’m sticking to good ol Dallas Love Field!

What sucks for pax, is that they were actually travelling to Haiti. At least crew got a layover in the D.R.
