Spirit Airlines flight hit by gunfire.
PORT-AU-PRINCE: A Spirit Airlines flight from Fort Lauderdale to the Haitian capital was struck by gunfire while trying to land earlier today. The plane was diverted to the Dominican Republic, where it landed safely. A flight attendant was reportedly grazed by a bullet.

There's a negative travel advisory - even their neighbours have closed the border.

Hasn't changed. Years ago I was conducting a TC PPC check at Toussaint Louverture International Airport and on the second IFR approach tower told me not to come below 3000'. I was all set to argue and be difficult but asked why instead. "Small arms fire". Right, so I instructed the crew to use 3000' as the MDA.

What sucks for pax, is that they were actually travelling to Haiti. At least crew got a layover in the D.R.
