AC Hiring %
Just curious,
About what % of interviewees get hired at AC?

They have slowed down the interviewing process because they already have a huge backload of interviewed / qualified candidates in the que.
I am not in any way, shape or form suggesting you stop applying, but to be patient when you don't get that answer as fast as you might like.
One of the best ways to get hired is to make your file twice as thick as any other in the pile. It demonstrates a desire to work at AIR CANADA, which is what they are looking for the most---- Dedication
Keep those Applications and Resume updates flowing in on a regular basis.
Good Luck !

So does AC keep every application you've ever sent them on file? Now that they have the online application system, doesn't your updated application just replace the old one?JayDee wrote:One of the best ways to get hired is to make your file twice as thick as any other in the pile. "Yeah. There is a problem. You...because you're dangerous. You're dangerous and foolish - and that makes you dangerous! Now, let's cut the...crap. We've got a plane to fly. Let's try to be on time, okay?"

I am not in a rush. I have dual US / Canada citizenship. I am just trying to evaluate if it is worth my effort to pursue this AC venture because I have to get my my US FAA ATP converted to a TC ATPL. It will take some effort...but it looks like it will be much easier on December 1st, when the new FAA\TC agreement takes place.
Sometimes it is just not worth the hassle. For example, Southwest airlines expects you to spend $10,000USD for a 737 type rating to get an interview. They only hire about 20% of the folks they interview. As you can see, it is too much of a gamble (for me, anyways).
If there is a resonable chance (60% to 70% +) AC will hire me (if invited to an interview) after I go through the process of getting a TC 1st class medical, getting my written tests complete (through Aerocourse), and juggling with the governmental paperwork process, I will give it a sincere effort. For every one of the events I have to accomplish to be qualified to fly in Canada (& AC), I have to travel from Hawaii to Canada on my days off.
Thanks for your reply,
Z
I just read somewhere that the standards between FAA and TC are harmonized now, and you can acquire the operational licence on the basis of your current one in either country. That was within the past week or so I think.Z_Pilot wrote:Jay-JayDee wrote:They have slowed down the interviewing process because they already have a huge backload of interviewed / qualified candidates in the que.

I thinks he doesn't want the competition...just joking with you.Z_Pilot wrote:DEFPOTEC wrote:better yet, it probably won't work out, you should stay in Hawaii.
What do you mean by that?

Nevertheless, I know one or two guys interviewed without a TC ATPL - only FAA ATP. They got it once they were confirmed hired. Sounds much easier and cheaper now.

Do you have any more information concerning this?
I am extremely interested!
Perhaps they wouldn't mind chatting with me. If so, please PM their information. Thanks for the tip!
