Some news photos shows at least one wing and the tail is missing, a longer distance photo looks like maybe both wings are gone!

It's a miracle if everyone walked away from that.

Not so much the RSC as the METAR, pretty breezy and quite a bit of blowing snow, I don't think they were on the wheels for very long, I'm leaning towards a bounced landing and a loss of control?

The other wing is partly there, you can see the landing gear and part of a wing, maybe more than just flipped over, maybe a couple rolls to have that kind of damage.

Looks like another “hard landing”. Truly amazing outcome considering how beat up she looks.

From ATC recording he says crash right at 15L/23 intersection.

A few unbelievable things about that video

a - Somebody that got out, is streaming online????
b - It seems a bunch of folks are walking away.
c - Some of the folks walking away, are fussing with their carry on luggage.

I have a lot of questions, like 'how does an RJ end up upside down with one, maybe two wings tore off ?

From CityNews https://toronto.citynews.ca/2025/02/17/ ... n-airport/
===============
A source confirms to CityNews no one was killed in the crash.

Ornge says they are currently transporting one pediatric patient to Sick Kids, a male patient in his 60s to St. Michael’s Hospital, and a third patient is being airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. All three suffered critical injuries in the crash.

Three air ambulance helicopters and two Critical Care Land Ambulances were dispatched to respond to the crash.

Peel paramedics confirm eight people were injured in the crash.

Transport Minister Anita Anand confirmed 80 people were on board the flight.
===============

Friggin unbelievable, CRJ upside down on/beside the runway with at least one wing missing, 80 on board, only 8 injured ?

I can't seem to figure out how the RJ is in the position it was in if the predominant traffic flow is westbound. It looks like somewhere the RJ would end up at the end of the landing roll for 05, not 23.

For them to dissipate enough energy in the landing to end up within the touchdown zone, upside down with 80, so far survivors....that's unbelievable.

Routine winter winds for here, good vis, and pretty close to right down the runway. Weather and crosswinds were actually far worse yesterday during the storm here. Wonder if something broke on landing.

I guess those seatbelts really do make a difference :shock:

You know what, if you survive this, you deserve to take your carryon with you off the plane. It likely ended up in your face anyway.

Looks like footage from a modded flight sim or game with over the top unrealistic graphics.

I disagree. I was disappointed to see people hauling their bag with them as the fire truck sprayed the plane.

This made me wonder: are there any certification tests or evac tests done from an inverted position? I can imagine if the luggage is literally laying on the floor, if it would not be quicker to take a random bag during the evacuation.

Some idiot pilot got himself on TV and is claiming winds were gusting 70 knots. Obviously listened to Canadian media reports on the accident and doesn’t know the difference between knots and KM/HR.

Seriously, any media reading this, do not report anything until you check basic facts. Just shut up and let actual experts do their work.

Stuff like this is why no one trusts the media.

Wow. Just saw the video of the crash in YYZ. The pilot did not flare at all. Saw the plane crash land on the runway. No inputs whatsoever on the ailerons. Plane just started to slide off the runway and flipped. Crazy. I can't share the video sorry.
