737 with express paint?
The 737 with express badging that was posted a couple weeks ago seems to be legit. Here’s another pic of it seen in Windsor today while driving past the maintenance facility. Any one have any idea as to what the thought process is with this?

Little early for an April foolz prank. Perhaps rouge is getting rebranded?
Re: 737 with express paint?
Turns out Jazz was the one buying AC after all.
Re: 737 with express paint?
One cannot help but wonder if there isn’t a re-branding coming for Express and for Rouge.
Past brands - Air Canada Connector. Air Canada Regional. Air Canada Jazz. Zip. Roots.
It has certainly happened before.

Re: 737 with express paint?
I’d assumed an ‘Express’ decal was a way cheaper alternative to repainting a whole fleet but I’ve also heard speculation that the first 737 to be branded as Rouge would trigger the switchover in types per the contract. The cynic in me says that the whole Rouge brand will be abolished so that none of the contract clauses calling them by name will have to be followed.
Re: 737 with express paint?
Pretty sure Roots was Sky Service. TANGO was AC though.
Re: 737 with express paint?
The obvious is it's management coming after scope.
Passing you in my Tesla
Re: 737 with express paint?
Lots of AC involvement in Roots, including an ownership stake.

What I've heard is the ex-Lynx 37s are getting this treatment because they are a high density, all economy configuration with 29" seat pitch and no recline.
My guess is they can not justify how bad that product is under the mainline banner (and prices) so this gives them an out. It's embarrassing.

Air Canada pilots will be operating up-gauged types on Air Canada Express routes.

All 9 Lynx tails have been painted Teal.
EDIT: My mistake. Didn't realize there were tails that were never delivered to Lynx.

At least AC has some standards then. WJ threw those shitty Lynx tails straight into service. No coffee makers, seats have no padding, don’t recline, they’re absolutely horrific.thepoors wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 10:48 am What I've heard is the ex-Lynx 37s are getting this treatment because they are a high density, all economy configuration with 29" seat pitch and no recline.

It’s really no different it’s not like people buying a ticket to go to Thunder Bay are expecting an all economy ticket they are are buying an AC ticket. We get it but the majority of the population doesn’t know what Express is or that Jazz isn’t actually AC.Canadaflyer46 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 2:54 pmAt least AC has some standards then. This way when they integrate Jazz into mainline it will be seamless and since people already think Jazz is part of AC no PR required.fish4life wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 4:30 pmIt’s really no different it’s not like people buying a ticket to go to Thunder Bay are expecting an all economy ticket they are are buying an AC ticket. Honestly this seems weird, will they put “operated by Air Canada” by the door

It will be nice to see Thunder Bay again.Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 2:27 pm Air Canada pilots will be operating up-gauged types on Air Canada Express routes.
Safety starts with two
Re: 737 with express paint?
Transitioning to being more of a domestic airline makes sense. What percentage of Air Canada's revenue is trips to the US? That is the amount they are about to lose when things really kick off.
Re: 737 with express paint?
AC doesn't make their money on domestic/transborder, apart from a few very profitable routes like YYZ-YVR. The bulk of their revenue comes from WB flying to Europe and Asia, that won't change.
Re: 737 with express paint?
Revenue is nice. Profit is better.
The issue is what segment of the business has the greatest margin, and, what is the aggregate of those yields. Typically, this is the J class inventory that is purchased, not occupied simply using redeemed Aeroplan points.
AC requires feed to sustain the revenues. It does some flying that is not - on its own - profitable. But it represents a critical component of a network revenue model.
Re: 737 with express paint?
The company is now saying the Express paint job was an error.
