RECALL OF CB
It has become apparent that CB has gambled much time, resources, and his reputation on our ULP strategy on the wrong horses, and wrong strategy…the now resigned ACA MEC Chairwoman and her Vice-Chair. 18 month’s worth. What’s that price tag look like? Probably should be DOGE’d.
Any ACA pilots care to share their feelings about CB? We heard you respect him so much you got his mic feed cut off right before he was to lecture you.
It has been a struggle for our MEC, the reps we have elected, to get compliance and transparency from CB and his MEC Executive shoe-shine boys. Much time and resources have apparently gone into this futile, doomed-from-the-start endeavour. An embarrassment really.
Time to go CB. Email your reps “en Massé” and demand a change in leadership. A change in leadership will not affect anything already before the CIRB or any Collective Bargaining issues arising. That’s what a team of lawyers is for. But CB has been above all that “small” stuff. All on his own. Let’s thank him for his service and move on. The time is now.

Re: RECALL OF CB
CB has been a great rep—for those at Jazz with 10+ years of seniority. He handed them the moon, but at the direct expense of the younger generation. His negotiation track record speaks for itself: failure after failure, from the botched PAL/Flow deal to the broader mismanagement of our collective future. Instead of fighting for a fair and sustainable path for all pilots, he prioritized short-term wins for a select group, leaving everyone else to pay the price.
The result? A divided pilot group, a crumbling strategy, and wasted time and resources. Worse yet, his actions have likely made Jazz a less desirable company for new and existing pilots alike. When leadership fails to protect the long-term interests of all pilots, it damages not only morale but also our ability to attract and retain talent. And now, after years of poor leadership, we’re left cleaning up the mess.
CB had his chance, and he blew it. It’s time for a leadership change—one that represents all pilots, not just the ones who benefited from his short-sighted decisions.

Time to boot him and the rest of his Quebec mafia (GR in particular).Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 7:06 pm It has become apparent that CB has gambled much time, resources, and his reputation on our ULP strategy on the wrong horses, and wrong strategy…the now resigned ACA MEC Chairwoman and her Vice-Chair. 18 month’s worth. Re: RECALL OF CB
No doubt he needs to get the boot but maybe after all the CIRB stuff? Seems like a new MEC chair at jazz and AC would only delay things further.Jfthepilot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 5:09 pm CB has been a great rep—for those at Jazz with 10+ years of seniority. No need to wait for any CIRB stuff to go through. CB is in fact a liability. Demand change. Now.
Re: RECALL OF CB
And who do you suppose replace him? Easy to say he needs to go, but I doubt the list is long doe those wanting to replace him. And when the time comes, maybe someone from the west this time, as that job has been dominated by the eastern base for over 2 decades. But unless you have a replacement in mind, I wouldn't be so eager to toss him.Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:21 pm No need to wait for any CIRB stuff to go through. CB is in fact a liability. Re: RECALL OF CB
There is, imo, interest. No objections to a western candidate. The MEC would vote on that of course.
We have a pool of knowledgeable, experienced persons.

Re: RECALL OF CB
The CB should have been replaced after the 17 year contract was adopted by the MEC.

Re: RECALL OF CB
I still don't understand why you feel the sudden need to drive this now? What is the outcome you want to see? What can someone else reasonably deliver that we aren't getting? I have difficulty in understanding the motive behind this at this time.Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 1:03 pm JAZ Council 220 Meeting Notice

Truedude, why don’t you put a lil effort in for yourself and ask these questions to your rep. I’m pretty sure the opening of this thread was clear.
Re: RECALL OF CB
It’s a personal vendetta by a rep in YUL that started this!truedude wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:26 amI still don't understand why you feel the sudden need to drive this now? The sad thing is, misinformation and social media will likely result in this recall! CB has been looking out for ALL Jazz pilots for a long time and maybe it might be time for him to move on to give someone else with new ideas a chance, after the CIRB.
As far as I know there isn’t a ton of support at other bases, one rep in YYZ excluded, so hopefully it is nothing but Teamgrifter you are sadly mistaken if you think this won’t affect the CIRB process!
Re: RECALL OF CB
I read it. All I saw was a lot of complaining. Nothing on what should of been done, or what you or someone else would have done differently given the time and circumstances. I have heard nothing about what you want to see after, or what should happen if a recall were to succeed. Maybe he should step down once the ULP is compelete. But until is see or hear a solid plan as to what comes next and what should be done differently, I won't vote for change for change sake... Better the devil you know than the devil you don'tTeamgrifter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:36 am Truedude, why don’t you put a lil effort in for yourself and ask these questions to your rep. Re: RECALL OF CB
Firstly, no pilot will vote one way or another. Either MEC vote or roll call vote.
Secondly, you must have missed the parts about not being transparent with the MEC, many times ignoring the legal experts (they wince but the fees keep coming) and of course committing much time and resources to a futile strategy that has NEVER worked…courting Air Canada pilot union.
To think CIRB process would be derailed without CB is to simply not understand the process itself.
But hey, why call your rep when you’ve got avcanada :)

Do you see the irony in posting your grievance on Avcanada and then getting snarky about getting information from Avcanada!Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 5:41 pm Firstly, no pilot will vote one way or another. Either MEC vote or roll call vote.

You are right, the MEC will vote, hopefully based on guidance from the pilots they represent.Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 5:41 pm Firstly, no pilot will vote one way or another. Either MEC vote or roll call vote.

What hasn't he been transparent about. Specifically? Legal experts are there to advice, recommend, but lastly advocate. No one ever just blindly does what the lawyer wants. What resources were committed to trying to build a better working relationship with another group in which there has traditionally been conflict between? Some money on drinks and nice dinners? Not sure why you would think that was a bad strategy, even if it produces no fruit.
Again, just hearing lots of complaints.

No. I don’t see the irony when social media, by form of this website or podcasts etc…are a very good way to get people thinking in the modern age. And all I say is ask your rep for yourselves rather than think the vault will be opened here.
Or don’t.
We got the DCC from ACPA, I mean ACA. Same difference as it pertains to us. It is a waste of time. Negotiate 3 ways sure, but not 4. And CH rapidly became a deadbeat. CB should have known better. And this is not the only file that has been dropped in recent years.
Demand change.

Re: RECALL OF CB
And by 3 ways, not 4, it means let ACA be AC’s problem. Again, history proves without a doubt it has never worked out for us to court ACA.
The cost of dinners etc…are a nothing. But 18 months of this is something bewildering. Not in terms of just costs, but especially in terms of naivety.

Re: RECALL OF CB
I have asked my reps, and they don't backup anything you are saying. And I don't care for the way you are going about this. You are trying to whip up the mob on social media, and it will bring us nowhere good.Teamgrifter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:32 pm No. I don’t see the irony when social media, by form of this website or podcasts etc…are a very good way to get people thinking in the modern age. Re: RECALL OF CB
Hey Fish, you’re absolutely correct. Term limits at ALPA should be considered. Good times or bad.
Continuity is built into democratic systems. The CIRB case is driven by lawyers. A new MEC can seamlessly continue the case. A rogue chairman, as CB has become, can engage in secrecy and lack of transparency for only so long until even the lawyers say “wtf”.
Although I would like a system where we vote for local reps AND the “President”, we do not operate this way. If we did, the Chairman would be much more beholden to both the reps, and the members.
At Jazz, demand change.

Re: RECALL OF CB
Teamgrifter,
I’m not sure who you are but you speak like you have knowledge of things that only reps would know. So you are either a rep or have been informed by a rep. Either way you are talking about things that are under non-disclosure agreements.
So how is this “information session” with LEC members going to work, when, in order for members to form their own decisions, members will have to be given privileged information?
The ACA executive stepped down after resolutions at LEC meetings were voted on by regular members, but the basis of the recall were facts that were all public knowledge ie the new contract that some vocal members disliked and the MEC chair’s statement that she would step down if the contract was voted down by the membership.
So if the purpose of the YUL Jazz LEC meeting is to show some type of groundswell movement for executive recall(and not just a disgruntled local rep) regular members won’t be able to make educated decisions unless NDAs are broken.
This is why only MEC reps are able to recall executive because they are privy to information that regular members are not, to preserve any type of bargaining leverage required for the 4 party negotiations .
