Anybody have a PDF of the current contract?

Re: Cargojet collective agreement
Paid less than a regional turboprop captain, and a CEO who doesn’t believe fatigue exists for cargo pilots. I’d quit the industry before I took a job there.
Re: Cargojet collective agreement
Comparing hourly rate yes.
But having been here less than 3 years as a DEC my T4 was over $250K and I only flew 400hrs

Re: Cargojet collective agreement
HA! Point proven. That’s an AVERAGE narrow body rate, at best.
Also, 400 hours on the backside of the clock that’s a lot. There’s a reason duty time is a sliding scale.

Re: Cargojet collective agreement
He's also disguising that this actually means a serious amount of OT. I believe CJ has a different credit system. It's not based, at least not entirely on flight credits. He would have spent a lot of days away from home to make well over 100K in OT. Even if he wasn't necessarily flying.
Re: Cargojet collective agreement
Not all the flying is backside of the clock, Would say only half of that 400hrs is.
It's certainly less fatiguing the Long Haul flying I used to do crossing 10-12 time zones.
You obviously have a hate on for CJ, so I won't engage further.
We can agree that the job is underpaid.
But I think you'd be surprised how much total compensation crews actually do make, it's certainly not in line with just what you see the hourly rate is.
Re: Cargojet collective agreement
Yes, there was a fair bit of OT, not even close to $100K, it can be quite lucrative if you want it.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:19 pmHe's also disguising that this actually means a serious amount of OT. Last year I flew a total of 159 sectors over 162 days of work (not including Sims, ground days etc) and as we have few day turns most of that time is away from home.
However signing on at 11Pm day 1 and signing off 1 am day 3, is 3 day of work, or 3 days of OT at now 5hr min credit x 3 days at double time.
So for that 26hrs away from home it work equate to 30hrs credit or an extra 35% monthly pay, not bad for 26hrs away.
Re: Cargojet collective agreement
I remember reading everyone is scheduled for 16 days regardless of credit, so is that 3 days(26hrs) over and above the mandatory 16 days?Bleed Air wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:34 amYes, there was a fair bit of OT, not even close to $100K, it can be quite lucrative if you want it.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:19 pmHe's also disguising that this actually means a serious amount of OT. Having to work overtime for an extra 35% pay bringing you to a total that’s still at least 35% below what a wide body captain’s base pay should be.
You can spin the numbers any which way you want, it’s actually making the CJ WAWCON look worse and worse.
I commend you for enjoying the job you are in and making the best of a bad employer. However, defending them does not help the industry.

Isn't 1st year cpt pay less than 150k at CJ? So if your T4 has been over 250K........Bleed Air wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:34 amYes, there was a fair bit of OT, not even close to $100K, it can be quite lucrative if you want it.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:19 pmHe's also disguising that this actually means a serious amount of OT. It's 15 days, and yes OT is over and beyond that.cdnavater wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 9:12 amI remember reading everyone is scheduled for 16 days regardless of credit, so is that 3 days(26hrs) over and above the mandatory 16 days?Bleed Air wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 8:34 amYes, there was a fair bit of OT, not even close to $100K, it can be quite lucrative if you want it.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:19 pm

In Jan I worked 15 days, 2 days were SIM, and flew on 8 (10 sectors), 5 days DH on AC to position to where I started my pairings.

I'm sure where you are has its downsides too.
Coming back to Canada after being overseas for many years this job, this job suits me fine. 15 days on 15 days off, leaves lots of time with the family.
I look at it as a part time job, if I need some more $$ I pick up OT, if I want more time off I don't.
Hopefully our next contract will take care of some of the shortcomings.
Safe flying
Re: Cargojet collective agreement
I'm not a year 1 Capt, Ive been on property less than 3 years and I'm Captain 4, and will be Captain 5 on July 1st.Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 10:03 amIsn't 1st year cpt pay less than 150k at CJ? Incidentally it works a little differently here everyone moves up 1 YOS on July 1, not your hire date, so if you were lucky enough to be hired as a DEC June 30 you'd be Captain 1, and day layer on July 1 you'd be Capt 2.
