Flight Training wait lists??

Hello aviators

I chatted with a new Private Pilot in training that commutes an hour and half away to do his training because the schools near him have a 6 month to one year wait list to begin training. Is this true and why such a long time to wait? Lack of aircraft, instructors, etc? This is in Southern Ontario.

This sounds about right depending on the school.
