Instructing on O-M aircraft?

Hi everyone,
Just curious if it is possible to find an instructor in SW Ontario who would provide lessons on a students O-M plane? For example, if I buy a Taylorcraft amphib but need dual hours for insurance would instructors be interested or turn the other way? I know where I can go for amphib instruction on their plane but what if I want to use my own?
Thanks!

There is no difference between a O-M airplane and a certified airplane as far as logging hours or getting instruction for insurance is concerned.
Finding an instructor to teach you on an amphib does present a problem as there are very few instructors who will have the necessary experience to teach you how to fly it.
Here is my advice.
Find a working commercial pilot who is or has flown amphib. airplanes for a living.
Remember the flying training segment of aviation in Canada is tricky in that the general preception is that when an owner is seeking training on their own airplane they must find a Transport Canada certified instructor, nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact if you think you need a certified flying instructor to teach you how to fly your amphib. the chances are you will be paying an instructor to teach both of you how to fly it and this can be expensive.
When choosing who you hire to teach you find out how many hours of amphib. time they have, where they flew and how many different types they are experienced on.
DO NOT I repeat DO NOT make the mistake of thinking you must hire a TC certified instructor for your training, the chances are that would result in very poor instruction on your amphib. as most do not have the experience on this type of aircraft to safely fly one let alone teach someone else how to.

Great stuff Cat! Thanks for the information and direction. I've sent you a pm to pick your brain on the O-M project I have in mind. I'd appreciate your opinion on it, if you have the time!
Thanks again.
