Pay Calculator

Post by Fresh Prince of King Air »

I’ve built a web-based pay calculator and I’m still in the process of refining it—there are definitely some mistakes to fix. If you spot any issues, please let me know and I’ll update them.

I’m also looking for additional collective agreements. If anyone is willing to share, I’d like to add Flair and Porter, as well as include Regional and Cargo categories.

The goal is to create a comparison tool, so I’ve tried to match similar fleets where possible (737/320 and 787/330).

Currently included:
• WJ 737 / 787
• AC 737 / 787
• TC 321 / 330
• CN 737

You can check it out here:

Cheers

Well done. Looks like you figure out the nuances to each CA quite well.

In the calculator, does the large font that says TAKE-HOME / MO include or not include per diems?

Never mind, I rotated the screen and it shows the breakdown. Does not include per diems in net. Good.
Great job with this.

There's one here as well, together with the collective agreements, pension/career estimator for AC:

This is pre-tax estimate and not taking union dues and pension into the calculation, correct?

Yes the pay calculator gives you gross. For Air Canada there is a net calculator/province specific and pension estimator if you sign up as Air Canada pilot.

All pay info is there as well, I just ask the AI assistant to calculate the pay per year/position across airlines, usually quite good.

Overall this looks like a fantastic tool. The one improvement I might suggest to whoever is in control would be the ability to factor in the overtime flying that’s paid out a double rate. You may be blocked at say 70 hours but end the month at 80, which 10 hours are double rate. Would this be something that could be added in?

Yes online now at https://airlinecontract.com/

I added most of the Canadian+American carriers to the pay calculator including a take home pay simulator, overtime calc for Air Canada and WJ.

The main idea of the tool though is that you can ask the AI about the contract if you have questions (or just run a semantic keyword like search on the collective agreements). Cheers and enjoy, feedback is always welcome.

Transat take-home needs to include a 4.5% of Gross reduction for LTD. The take-home is far too high.
Health benefits are something else altogether but the LTD alone takes a huge chunk. Reduces take-home by about 12% of net.

it doesn't look like the calculator takes into account the employee paid benefits for companies like Transat (unless it changed in the last world class CA from which AC needs to learn from)?

Take home is a bit high on TS but the calculator is already at May 1 2026 increases. We do not pay for benefits and STD anymore, only LTD. It is a hefty premium but also a tax free payment when used since the employee pays for it. Take home is about $6300 for a top scale captain every two weeks so about $13650 per month.
