I was wondering if anyone who has done a multi or IFR there would care to share on the experience and the level of training they feel they recieved?

Good school I agree but a little hard to swallow a run up cost of $125.

If you want to get it done fast, go to Cornwall Aviation. I did a renewal in 2 days. And it didn't kill me financially. They have a DFTE on staff and it's a quiet airport. They have housing arrangements where you can stay across the street from the airport.

Plus a seminole you can actually trim out (sort of), unlike a BE-95.

I seem to remeber PROIFR only charging you a/c time for the time between t/o and landing. Charged for the Instructor only for ground work.

I did my initial at Perimeter in 2000.I felt they did a good job and I was ready for the ride in three weeks.I did a sim in the morning and a flight in the after-noon.I felt I could have accomplished more in the day, but they didn't recomend doing that.
So after 3 weeks in the Peg i did my pre-ride and got my recommend for the ride.The Fri. (day of ride) came but so did the TCU's and thunder storms... all day.Needless to say I scrubbed the ride for the day,but then couldn't get an aircraft till Sun.Well now their DFTE (Zoochken) wasn't available that day and he was leaving for a weeks holidays the next day.
So now I had to get a TC inspector to come and do the ride....they couldn't do my ride till the next Monday......I finally finished...but it cost me more than it needed to and I felt like I got dicked around in the end.

perimeter provides realy good training can get it done fast depending on experience.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead rather than create a new one.

Anyone know what the story is on Perimeter these days?

It looks like my choices for a MIFR are either Cornwall or Perimeter.

I've heard about Cornwall and know they're pretty good but I like the idea of doing my rating at a "busier" airport. I've spend most of my time in peacefull bush airspace.

I shot them off an email and no reply yet. Maybe I should have said I have cash in hand

You go to the "busier" airports to do the ILS stuff... YOW or Montreal (Mirabel when I did my initial 5 years ago, maybe Dorval now?)

You'll see more traffic at YOW, YUL, YMX than you'll see at YWG,which is where you go for the ILS work at Cornwall. The only benifit of doing your MIFR at Perimeter is that they teach you how to use ADF NDB. Cornwall doesn't even have ADF in their planes! So if your going to use NDB's for anything.....go to Perimeter! If you want to get your MIFR done quick quick Cornwall is the place to do it. I did mine at Cornwall...completed my MIFR in 3 days....you'll just have to do some extra work in a 172 to learn ADF/NDB stuff.

So basically no real difference between the two schools other than location and perimeter has ADF/NDB equipment.

Don't know about Cornwall, just that guys get their stuff done quickly.
PAG Academy is a good place, at least to work. What I liked most while working there was their syllabus, and the fact that planes are maintained well. Snags actually get fixed, something which doens't always happen at flight schools.
YWG is likely not as busy as YOW/YUL, but that gives advantages too, although lately there have been training restictions to all training aircraft due staff shortage at ATC.

I'm a former Perimeter instructor. Great school. CYWG is good for IFR flt training- It's not too busy so there aren't too many delays.

Cheap living in the Peg too.

Come w/ the INRAT done, Backseat often and work hard!
