Job Summary
NAV CANADA Flight Inspection operates a small fleet of specially modified aircraft to carry out calibration and certification of navigational aids. Reporting to the Manager of Aircraft Services and under supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) plays a critical role and is tasked with completing and certifying all manner of planned and ad hoc maintenance to support operations for the NAV CANADA aircraft both at base and on profile while adhering to all Transport Canada Regulations and Nav Canada’s Aircraft Operators Certificate (AOC) and Aircraft Maintenance Operation (AMO) Policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:
Operational Support to Pilots and crew when presented with defects on the aircraft and decide on what steps to take to either rectify or defer using the company MEL procedures.
Performs and documents inspections at fixed intervals to confirm aircraft parts are all functioning correctly and aircraft is Airworthy.
Travel with the crew both nationally and internationally as needed during profiles for ground support, maintenance support, and completing daily inspection (CRJ-200 only).
Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical, hydraulic and avionics systems to identify and repair in accordance with specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures.
Dismantles airframes, aircraft engines or other aircraft systems for repair, overhaul and cleaning, and reassemble.
Certifies all maintenance completed using the aircraft management software (RAAS) for entry into the e-technical record for the aircraft and in accordance with Transport Canada regulations.
Aids MC in arranging Logistics to procure parts and materials when handling an unplanned repair.
Contacts the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator to update, discuss and determine the troubleshooting of defects and the parts required for a repair when on Profile.
Attend Training as required on aircraft, aircraft systems, Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM), All Weather Operations (AWOPS) and company mandatory training.
Conducts the necessary installation and testing of aircraft parts on a regular basis.
Complying with Nav Canada’s AOC and AMO maintenance policies and procedures.
Perform other duties when at base which includes keeping work area clean, inventory checks, maintaining tools and equipment and grooming / upkeep of aircraft.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance and Report any Aviation Safety issues using the Nav Canada Safety Management System.
Represent Nav Canada to oversee contracted maintenance as part of a contracted maintenance arrangement.

Job Requirements

Education:
Transport Canada approved AME license with M1 or M2 rating.

Experience:
Experience with Beechcraft King Air B300 Inspection and Repair.
Experience with PT6A Engine Inspection and Repair.
Experience with CRJ-200 Aircraft Maintenance Inspection and Repair.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of Transport Canada Regulations.
Basic Computer Skills including the Microsoft Office suite of Programs.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to communicate clear, accurate, and concise technical information.
Ability to maintain detailed and accurate maintenance records.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions under pressure.

Working conditions:
Work in hangar and ramp environments with exposure to noise, varying weather conditions, and hazardous materials (e.g., fuels, oils, and chemicals).
Physical demands include lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs, standing, sitting, climbing, and working at heights; scissor lift operation required (training provided).
Occasional travel, including short-notice travel, required to support maintenance, operational, and training requirements.
Must be legally authorized and able to travel without restriction, including international travel, as required, and is able to acquire a valid passport for such travel.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
Must be able to work a 7-days-on/7-days-off shift rotation (10.7 hours per day).
Flexible work arrangements:
This position is onsite and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
