Lions, Cougars... and School boys...

Post by SYT_YYZ »

Okie... sooo I was watching Dr. Phil, dont laugh.. anyways, it is a show about female teachers who had sex with their underage students. These female teachers were given sentences like 3 years house arrest, no jail time.

It is becoming more and more common for female teachers to have sex with their students, and I think there are massive double standards here in sentencing... How do you feel about it. ?

Here are some examples...
It was said about Debra Lefave during the trial, "how can we put such a beautuful woman in prison, it would be like throwing meat to the lions.."

Photo of Debra Lefave

Personally I think someone is confused about who the real lion in this case is, or should I say cougar......

How do I feel about gorgeous young female teachers in their early 20's having sex with their students?

You've gotta be kidding. I obviously went to the wrong school.

They oughta give these (female) teachers medals, or at least the key to the city.

I knew of one female teacher banging a dude on the hockey team, and one secretary that did a couple of guys on the football team.

That was 80's high school. I'm sure it went on in grade school too, so it's nothing new.

What about a male rapist that most people would consider handsome or attractive? Would a jury/judge have any regret putting him in prison? No.

Definitely a double standard. They had sex with someone underage, should be punished the same regardless of how, when, why, or how attractive.

I wonder if people would have reacted differently if Karla Homolka was considered a 'beautiful' woman...

Oh, and despite how 'cool' it would be for it to happen to you, try putting yourself in a parent's shoes. They send their kid to school to learn, and to start fitting into modern society, not to be influenced and basically underage-raped by their teacher...

Clodhopper...it's quite a stretch from Karla Homolka to some pretty high school teacher having her way with a "lucky" fifteen year old boy! You call that "rape"....I dont think so. Talk about being in the right place, at the right time!
And I'd be willing to bet, the charges were all brought about by the mothers. The fathers would be out "high fiving" all their buddies...and I'm pretty sure the boys (poor sots...booooohooooo) aint bitching?

Doc,

I guess its all in how you view it. I personally find it disgusting. A person with responsibility, and in a position of authority, conducting themselves as such should be fully reprimanded.

If you wanna think its "cool" and would go off "high-fiving" your buddies, then thats your perogative.

I'll admit, the "high-five" is a little "out there", but if you think a fifteen year old boy is not going to get over this, you're dreaming. It is a double standard though..if it were a 15 year old girl it's a whole different ball game. Why is this? It just is, and it is not my fault. But beleive me....the kid will recover.

The hardest part for me is trying to comprehend why a good looking woman like her would want to blow a 14 year old. Like, damn, she could've .... nevermind. I guess the kid was just in the right place at the right time.

C'mon, she looks all right. In fact, she just might be my next ex-wife, so you better watch it.

I never saw that segment of Dr Phil. What did the Doc have to say in that case?

I saw this other show, it's called House, and this teenage girl was trying to have sex with Doctor House whose about 50 years old. For some reason this pursuing goes on through a couple of shows and this girl keeps coming to see the doctor and he has to keep resisting but finally he discovers she has an illness. This illness causes errors in judgement and was the cause of her behavior. This story might help people REMEMBER that kids should not be taken advantage of because they might be ill or are having emotional problems or problems with their peers which causes them to be impaired in judgement. The mature adult knows he is at an advantage over the teenager because of their differences in ages and also because kids are immature that you can see it ie. the way they dress, the places they go, etc.
And it doesn't matter about the gender of the teenager, it's well known boys are more immature than girls, so how can they be better qualified for the relationship?

Ya, that crap about girls being more mature than boys... that's physical maturity. It has nothing to do with how they act. The only link, and it's a weak correlation, is the final development of the judgement center of the brain. This occurs somewhere around age 20 or so, regardless of sex.

So stop trotting that crap out. It's well known, just like alot of other urban myths.

frankly I think that Boys and Girls mature emotionally / mentally based on life experiences rather than sex. It is very common for a lot of girls to say... " I dont have many female friends because frankly girls are immature"... I have only a couple very close female friends who I trust and love...most others I have written off because I cant stand to hear their random ramblings about shoes, other girls who stole their boyfriends, or how fat they are. I find that the few great female friends I have are a blessing, girls who arnt petty, and have often like myself, had some things in life at early ages and throughout had to work really hard to overcome... My close male friends, are often less maintenance.. (i.e. i can go 3 months without calling and when i finally do, they answer like i talked to them just yesterday)... But they are definately easier to come by..

I would say they are generally more practical...

Again i think it has a lot to do with upbrining.. I know some twenty five + yearolds i worked with who were complete tards, and yet some of the 18 yearolds were mature, logical, well spoken and loyal...

Just my opinion

Personally I had fantasies about school teachers when I was in high school and I'll admit the white socks and plaid skirts may be on my fantasy list now. But that's not what this is about.

People in positions of authority, particularily adults over children, have to be held to a strict moral and ethical standard, man or woman. Children in their care may be vulnerable for a number of reasons; level of maturity, mental or learning issues, victims of abuse or pefectly normal well adjusted people wanting a little extra attention. I realise that some of our teachers may well fall into these categories as well and that only adds to the argument that these people must be charged in the judicial system and receive their day in court. If they are found guilty then measures can be taken which may not all include jail time but will effectively remove them from their position and ability to work with children again.

Really good movie out right now on similar subject, "Hard Candy".
