I've used a Sennheiser HMEC 300 for the past 4 years and I love it. It has good PNR when the batteries in the box go dead. My set of Energizer rechargeables (4 AA) usually lasts around 20-25 hours of flying.

I've been using the Sennheiser HMEC 25-KA. It's a super comfortable headset. The noise cancelling is great. I went down to Wally World and bought a AA rechargable NiMH set with four batteries for, i dunno, 20 bucks, and I swap the batteries out a little more then once a week. It works great.

I have one of those Light Speed 20's. They're simply awesome. You end up looking funky too ;)

Hands down.... if you're looking for a reasonable price while obtaining good quality, David Clark is your man. The H10-13.4 is aviations leading headset, whether its rotary or fixed. If you want that plus more luxury and you have around a grand or more to put in... BOSE is for you

Brands aside, I would look for something no too heavy. David Clarks are great but if you fly long hours they tend to get pretty heavy... mind you I have ones that are at least 10+ years old so... haven't looked into new ones

I love my DC H10-13Xs, got them a few months before we even heard of the X11 model, which looks good too. I am wondering if the head pad is as comfortable though.

Many things regarding headsets are a matter of personnal taste. You haven't mentionned if you have a current pair of headsets or if you fly on flight school loaners (and what they are in that case). This might help others here in their response.

One advantage I feel the DCs have over the Bose is durability.

There has been some good threads on this topic in the past as well, don't forget the search function.

Goodbye,

Louis

I just bought a new DC X11. Not as durable as the old DC's, less metal more plastic.

But if you are thinking about buying a new Bose X, the X11 is just as comfortable, has the MP3 & cell phone jacks and is $300 cheaper.

The H-10-13.4X is beautiful. My favourite thing about it is the noise cancellation. It helps alot in those old 150's. Theres nothing like a flight with DC's and a pair of Randolphs with that sun stearing you down

Light Speed 20

How is the lightspeed 20 for noise compared to a "regular" head set?

There are some small foam cushions meant to go around your glasses' arms to help give headsets a better seal. Haven't tried them on yet, but given your sunglasses seem to be causing you trouble, it might be worth a shot.

Has anyone here ever used those?

Goodbye,

Louis
