Another ATPL question.
I know that the SARON/SAMRA written exams are valid for two years by default. If you are an active flight crew on a transport category aircraft over 12500 do the same rules apply? Or does this keep them active (for lack of a better term.).

They remain valid as long as they were written for the purpose of getting a two crew type rating:
CAR 400.03
CAR 400.03
Text in red is my addition for clarity.(2) Subsection (1) (two-year validity) does not apply in respect of examinations that are required for the issuance of
(a) a student pilot permit; or
(b) an airline transport pilot licence if examinations were previously written
(i) for the endorsement of a type rating, a mark of 70 per cent or higher was obtained on the examination and the type rating was issued; or
(ii) for the issuance of the former senior commercial pilot licence, a mark of 70 per cent or higher was obtained on the examination and the senior commercial pilot licence was issued.
Yup -- If you were to try and get another type rating you would not need to rewrite the exam.gig wrote:So if I understand you CARS reference, if I passed my IATRA exam 3 years ago in order to get a type rating, and got one, even if my 2 years period is over my test is still valid?
