Almost a $1000 for a watch??! Personally, I'd go for the $50 Timex from Walmart. I'd hate to be doing a walkaround or something and accidentally scratch the face of a watch like that. If you really want one, you can get good looking knock offs in Hong Kong or on the streets of NYC.

Nice looking watch, but with no E6-B on it I wouldn't buy it.

You can buy that same watch at costco for $680. My roomate just bought one, it's the same inner workings as the Breitling quartz movment watches.

Actually C-HRIS Watch makers like breitling thought of that and put a saphire face on all of there watches and they cant be scratched. I would suspect the tissot would too. Have had my breitling for 5 years now no scratches!

You're absolutely right TAT. I have that same Tissot watch and it has a sapphire face on it so no scratches. Saying that, I still dont wear it flying...my ol' trusty Timex works good for that.

I say get your trusted Tissot out of the drawer and wear it. That's what it was meant for.

That can really be cut down to one word, Rolex. Mechanical ones are not the most accurate watches ever built but even a 172 has a panel mounted clock so it doesn't really matter.

Dont get me wrong, I wear my Tissot every other minute that I am not flying. If I wasnt chucking bags and 80 lbs boxes of frozen meat in the back of the plane, I probably would wear it to work too.

I wear a Citizen Eco-Drive...never needs a battery, no winding and pretty much every bell and whistle one would ever need.

Great watch...and not a huge investment.

Never seen anywhere that an aircraft has to have a working clock - just that a reliable time-piece was on board - hence the watch.

My watch was 3 bucks at walmart and I can play blackjack, draw poker, and something called baccarat on it (I'm up 18 g's). If I lose or break it I'll say a curse word and move on with my life.

I can't cut and paste from a pdf MEL but it shows that one clock is required for dispatch. MEL 25-1. Two installed, one required for dispatch.

I wear my Breitling Aerospace everywhere, granted I swear like a sailor when I strike it anywhere. (However I swear alot on average so what does that say...)

Myself, I enjoy watches. You may insert barbs here (penis envy, whatever) but I just liked it and could afford one at the time. As my ol' grandpappy used to say... there is no hitch on the hearse.

People pay premiums for whatever they enjoy. If that is collecting watches, knock your socks off.

I have several Swiss watches as well but have to agree on the comments made on the Citizen Eco-Drive. At 300-500 bucks it has a lot of features and I have found them reliable for 5-7 years. After that, it owes you nothing and when it breaks, throw it away. Features have improved by then anyways.

I had wanted a breitling ever since I started flying. I have a thing for watches. Anyway, not too long back I was in a place where I could afford one, so I bought it, a B2. Sure I may have wanted it for years, and yes it's nice...but now I keep thinking what I could have bought for less than a quarter the price (Tissot T touch).
If I was to do it again, I'm not sure if I would have bought it...it is after all just a watch.
