Almost a $1000 for a watch??! Personally, I'd go for the $50 Timex from Walmart. I'd hate to be doing a walkaround or something and accidentally scratch the face of a watch like that. If you really want one, you can get good looking knock offs in Hong Kong or on the streets of NYC.

where can I score one of these fakies?
Actually C-HRIS Watch makers like breitling thought of that and put a saphire face on all of there watches and they cant be scratched. I would suspect the tissot would too. Have had my breitling for 5 years now no scratches!C-HRIS wrote:Almost a $1000 for a watch??! Personally, I'd go for the $50 Timex from Walmart. You're absolutely right TAT. I have that same Tissot watch and it has a sapphire face on it so no scratches. Saying that, I still dont wear it flying...my ol' trusty Timex works good for that.Actually C-HRIS Watch makers like breitling thought of that and put a saphire face on all of there watches and they cant be scratched. I wear a Citizen Eco-Drive...never needs a battery, no winding and pretty much every bell and whistle one would ever need.

Great watch...and not a huge investment.

I can't cut and paste from a pdf MEL but it shows that one clock is required for dispatch. MEL 25-1. Two installed, one required for dispatch.Never seen anywhere that an aircraft has to have a working clock - just that a reliable time-piece was on board - hence the watch.
I wear my Breitling Aerospace everywhere, granted I swear like a sailor when I strike it anywhere. (However I swear alot on average so what does that say...)
Myself, I enjoy watches. You may insert barbs here (penis envy, whatever) but I just liked it and could afford one at the time. As my ol' grandpappy used to say... there is no hitch on the hearse.

People pay premiums for whatever they enjoy. If that is collecting watches, knock your socks off.red003 wrote:a guy buys a $680 watch but needs a roomate. nice to finally see someone with their priorities in line.
I have several Swiss watches as well but have to agree on the comments made on the Citizen Eco-Drive. At 300-500 bucks it has a lot of features and I have found them reliable for 5-7 years. After that, it owes you nothing and when it breaks, throw it away. Features have improved by then anyways.
I had wanted a breitling ever since I started flying. I have a thing for watches. Anyway, not too long back I was in a place where I could afford one, so I bought it, a B2. Sure I may have wanted it for years, and yes it's nice...but now I keep thinking what I could have bought for less than a quarter the price (Tissot T touch).
If I was to do it again, I'm not sure if I would have bought it...it is after all just a watch.
