Something tells me the phone call to the insurance company would go something like this:istp wrote:Their insurance must be though the roof!
"You were doing what?!?"...hysterical laughter...then "click".
Nice flying skills but there's 5 guys standing there plus pierre in the chopper makes 6. Worth the risk to the plane? Probably not.

Ya, that sure is some nice stickhandling. I only get to longline a few times a year, and am not that accurate. It's not like riding a bike, it's a 'use it or lose it' type of skill.
I tell the guys "After you hook up, get the f@$k outta the way".
Guys like Sky's the Limit who build drills year-round, would prolly say "Piece o' Cake"

Exactly what did the Borek guys do there??? I must have missed it....

It's not as hard as it looks, once you get good basic control of the long line, (which takes some time for sure) you're able to judge things pretty accurately. The trick is NOT thinking about what'll happen if you miss....LOL
Once a person has their hands on a load like that, they're able to keep it pretty steady, you just have to be nice a relaxed, and don't rush. As soon as you tense up in a helicopter, it's game over. Those guys knew what they were doing, nice and smooth. The way it should be.
You can always tell a good pilot, watch the ground crew..... If they look scared, chances are they have reason to be!
Good videos.
