Airplane veers off runway in northern Manitoba
An airplane veered off a runway during its landing at Norway House this morning, causing “substantial” damage to the aircraft, according to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
“After touchdown, the aircraft veered off the left side of the runway and ran on to an adjacent rocky terrain,” said John Cottreau, a TSB spokesman in Ottawa.
Cottreau said none of the two crew members or seven passengers aboard the Perimeter Airlines plane were injured in the rocky landing at 8:37 a.m.
The runway was closed and TSB investigators have been deployed to investigate the incident.
Cottreau said there is little information as to what caused the accident.
Norway House is located 438 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Perimeter off runway in Norway House
From the Winnipeg Sun. Glad to hear everyone is ok
It's better to break ground and head into the wind than to break wind and head into the ground.
A Perimeter Airlines plane slid off the runway after landing at the airport in Norway House on Wednesday morning. RCMP said there were no injuries. There were seven passengers and two crew members. Passengers walked about 500 metres back to the terminal, a witness said. Norway House is located about 450 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Looks like two pilot's will be getting nice cheques from Beechcraft.
One less Metro to compete with the 1900
Serouisly guys, don't worry too much about it. I bent a plane just south of YNE and it hasn't hurt my career. On the otherhand excessive drinking and my big mouth have.
PS I think Disco Stu did the same thing in the Embraer sim when he got a reduced V1 cut at gross outta YNE

I think it landed on the runway, however it subsequeintly "departed the runway". I think thats a TSB technical term...they also use the term "excursion". I always like that one.
Glad to hear nothing more serious than bent tin happened, I still can't say I'm a fan of people rushing to post photos of others peoles mishaps.
There is nothing to learn from the photo...its rubbing salt into a wound.

Is that thing a write-off by the time you take props, engine tear-down and skin damage into account? How much are those tubes worth for insurance purposes?

I appreciate the photo too because we won't get to read about the accident on here. Seems like Perimeter employees never post their story's on here which looks bad on them, don't you think? Because they are acting like it's Top secret information. They help no one by not sharing! How come they never print the name of the pilot?
Anywho, I'll share this, the runway at Norway House was probably icy even though there is hardly any snow yet, guess that's what the pilot figured too, or does the airport make sure it's not icy?
It looks like the plane went completely off the runway, and stopped on a rocky hill, cool! Who was driving it, a girl or a guy?
How did this affect the other planes that fly in there?

I know of at least one charter that had to be cancelled due to the runway being closed. Mind you, I didn't get the details about the closure, was it the accident or the friction.goldeneagle wrote:Collapsed gear, bent fuse, broken engines and props, yet they still managed to clear the runway for other traffic. I'd say they did pretty good.
Glad everyone walked away.

How does it look bad on Perimeter employees by not posting on here? When other Canadian airlines have occured incidents/accidents did you expect the flight crew to provide avcanada with a detailed explanation of the event in question?Seems like Perimeter employees never post their story's on here which looks bad on them, don't you think? And I don't see the need to publish the names of the flight crew at the present time.
Let's just be thankful that everyone was okay and let TC do their investigation and you'll have all the information you seek.

Chantal you strike me as the type who would be first to criticize the pilot’s and the decisions made on that flight……....all while you were snuggled up, warm and cozy in an arm chair drinking hot chocolate.
I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
