Working Overseas but moving back... TC Security Pass

Post by pilatusdriver2 »

Gents,

Thanks for all the information you've provided in the forums so far.

I've got a question for all the pilots that were working overseas but moved back to Canada to start a new job.

I worked in the Canadian Aviation Industry for 5 years, and during that period held a MOT Red Pass. Two years ago I accepted a job offer overseas in the Middle East, since the Canadian aviation industry wasn't doing too well.

I'm now moving back to Canada to take-up a new job... but I'm concerned about getting my MOT Red Pass (re)issued, since I've heard that the screening process has caused a lot of problems for a number of pilots in a situation similar to my own.

Has anyone had a problem so far? Is there a list of documents that I should get done here, that would help with the entire process?

Thanks guys and girls.

I worked out of the country for over 5 years and never held a red pass prior to returning in February of 2005. My application was scrutinized but after 7 months it was finally approved. If you can get a copy of a police record showing you do not have a record (WTF) in the country you worked in it might speed up the process. I suspect that because you already held a pass that it will be easier than an intitial application. I included a couple of character reference letters from influential family friends that might help as well. Be patient, they don't want to deny you. When I spoke witth them on the telephone the comment was made that it isn't their intent to deny you from your livlihood but it is part of their due diligence.

yycflyguy,

Thanks for the information. I'll get a copy of the police record you mentioned, and will also request a few other documents that some other people suggested... letter from your bank, letter from the Canadian Embassy.

Any other input from anyone else is apprecieted.

Cheers.

I just had to renew after being away for 2 years and they did not even take my application. They handed it back and said I was still "cleared" untill 2008. My pass had expired but the finger print check and background was still valid. They handed me a red pass 10 minutes later no questions. I guess we will se the next time I have to renew if they ask anything.
