Avionic Tech Contract Work in Calgary

Can anybody out there give me some insight if there is enough contract work with the smaller airlines and charter companies to make it worthwhile to quit a regular job and try this?? Been doing this for 20 years and looking to see if this cross-over is possible in Calgary?
