I understand the US Government changed to the metric system sometime in the late 80's, early 90's. However, it is irrelevent, the sign has to be in units most people understand-- I doubt many Iraqis have a concept of how much a mile is or how far 5000 feet is.

Should I change the sign to "stay back 10 camels"?Panama Jack wrote:... I doubt many Iraqis have a concept of how much a mile is or how far 5000 feet is.
Iraq isn't full of retards, there was a school system in place before we came to town, and now there are even more schools. So more and more kids can comprehend 300 meters.
I think it's a nice buffer zone, because I can still pick 'em off at 300. I qual at 500 so they can run away and I can still get em.
Merry Christmas.

Witness the USMC Hearts and Minds campaign. Maybe that's contributing to the amazing progress in Iraq.Nark wrote:Should I change the sign to "stay back 10 camels"?Panama Jack wrote:... I doubt many Iraqis have a concept of how much a mile is or how far 5000 feet is.

Yeah Iraq isn't full of retards. Just the USMC... Kandahar isn't even in Iraq. Try again...Nark wrote:Should I change the sign to "stay back 10 camels"?Panama Jack wrote:... I doubt many Iraqis have a concept of how much a mile is or how far 5000 feet is.

Forgive my command of the English language; are you calling me a retard because of my reply to Panama Jacks Iraq comment?
Or are you calling Panama Jack a retard because he assumed the Humvee was in Iraq?
I wouldn't call this guy a retard. He received our nation’s second highest award for valor, something you know nothing about.

Nice video, it's always nice to see retards from Surrey, BC CANADA making an ass of themselves.

I don't know, just forget it... One of my resolutions this year is not to argue on Avcanada anymore... Sorry I brought it up, it's just the tone of your post I found demeaning.
I thought you could represent the group you seem so proud of better than that. And that guy is a retard for 1. signing up to go to Iraq and 2. getting shot... sorry - trying to stop that... anyway...
BTW - I wouldn't call PJ a retard because I have a high degree of respect for his now too infrequent contributions to this board...

It's not the New Year yet, so don't give up, no one likes a quitter.
You seem to have a bit more egg on your face than I, as I directly quoted Panama Jack in my comment about Iraq; ergo I wasn't talking (typing) about Afghanistan.
The fellow in the picture being carried by fellow Marines is Sgt. Maj. Brad Kasal. He was awarded the Navy Cross for killing a shit load of bad guys, while saving the lives of marines in his company, all while having close to 50 holes in him from bullets and shrapnel.
Let me put that into comparison with you:
Everyone serving today has either joined post 9-11 or reenlisted. (Officers sign a one time contract, and they continue on until resignation)
A serviceman sees a child on the street about to get hit by a bus. He or she leaps out to save the kid. Whether they save the kid isn't the point. They knowingly put themselves in harms way. While you, were the bystander frozen in fear, not doing a damned thing.
I signed up to go to Iraq, yet I haven't been. It doesn't work that way. I don't think I should publish the numbers but you would be amazed at what they have to say. CNN, NBC and my beloved FOX don’t always have it right.

While those guys are ultimately @#$! heads, you do get @#$! heads in every group, just like you get good honest people trying to make a differance. We look at the news and see that Iraq is a genuine shit hole, even though your average grunt might think they are doing a good thing by being there.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPAEmr6GkWw

There are two views on the matter, the average grunt who sees the individual person in Iraq who is now 'free'. He sees just trees in their day to day habitat and and makes his opinion on what is right and what is wrong there.
We see the news, we hear everyday about the countless dead in another roadside bombing, or how the whole nation is going to hell in a handbasket. We loose that personal touch that comes from looking someone in the eyes. When we hear 35 just died today thats exactly it, just a number, there are pleanty more, we dont appreciate each individual. So we look at it as just a clusterfuck of death, but they may look at it as something to fight for.
I think the US should have gotten the @#$! out of there, or better yet not have gone, but now its a sticky situation. They came to 'free' Iraq, unfortunatly it was more free with Sadam. Now they are held prisoner by the fear that any day is their last.
So taking in to mind what the average guy on the ground must feel (the ones who arent cockfaces like in the video, but the ones who honestly want to make a differance) and taking into mind what you feel (the country is a cluster @#$!, they were better off with out the US) What do you do now? I doubt the Iraqi security forces could hold their own, God knows the US is haveing a hard enough time.
Whats the simple answer? There is none.
PS.
Less and less children available to go to them thoughIraq isn't full of retards, there was a school system in place before we came to town, and now there are even more schools.

Riiiiiiight, because only enlisted men will put themselves in harm way to save someone... Tell that to the kid that drowned trying to save his dad on a frozen lake, to the guy that got burnt trying to save an old lady in a burning appartment or to they guy that blew up trying to save a girl from a burning car. You can't generalize like that...Nark wrote: A serviceman sees a child on the street about to get hit by a bus. He or she leaps out to save the kid. Whether they save the kid isn't the point. So there isn't any confusion, I don't agree with Bush, but I have great respect for all branches of the Canadian and American military.

Its just funny how many people think they know what its like because they watch CNN...
People like Jack Layton and the Liberal Party make me sick when they talk about pulling soldiers out and " sending more aid."
They treat our military like it was made up of Waffen-SS.

i do not think most people could read that sign at three hundred yards .
You would have to get close to read it .And then you might get shot trying to read it .They should make the sign bigger .And more explicit .Or try hanging a small dead animal on the rear .The smell would keep most people away.Perhaps even a few heads of dead insurgients as a deterence to others not to get to close
