APV Approaches
The new approach ban mentions that the ban applies to non-precesion, cat 1 precision, and APV approaches. Can anyone tell me what an APV approach is?

I have a question, who remembers what you call the portion of a Radio Range airway where the steady tone and the A or N signal are equal?

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

CAT, I can't remember what they called it but I always flew in either the "twilight A" or the "twilight N". until I got close to the "cone of silence". I can still recite with some accuracy how you do a "lost orientation" on the range or the "close in" procedures.
Who can remember where the last two ranges in Canada were?
Hint - B.C.
One was still active in the late 70's.
What king of tone did you hear crossing the outer marker, crossing the middle marker and crossing the Z marker and what colour were they??

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Yup, it was called the " Twilight Zone "
The last radio range I flew was Lac Labarge out of Whitehorse in 1971 in a DC3.
Last flight I flew IFR was using IRS, my next flight will be on the wings of an angel as I fly up to heaven to meet my saviour....or will it be down to hell to meet my mentor?
