Tranw**st looking for Saab captains and FO's

Post by WTF? »

What the F**K?

This company has 35 plus aircraft and 75 plus pilots, not to mention 20 plus pilots working the ramp, and they can't hire or train from within?

That's pathetic!

That's quite an efficient crew structure (1 crew per a/c).

Ya, that was nasty and rude Jihaad. But with a tag like 'holy war', you're obviously an idiot troll to begin with, which makes it even easier to ignore you.

But back to the thread, as long as the upgrades and training happen from within, multiple people will move up, and that's what it's all about.

PPC

Post by No more BS »

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is too many guys/girls with valid PPC's on a SAAB 340 on the streets right now...

And those who have one(PPC) would probably not move to Saskatchewan, unless they're from there(no offense Saskatchewan, Go Roughriders!).

It's futile then to worry.

Cheers

Before everyone gets their panties all wadded up, maybe consider that on a 705 aircraft over 12,500 lbs that simulator training is a requirement of the CAR's. As I do not believe there is a Saab 340 sim in Canada, this training would have to be completed in the US. Post 9/11 regulations in the states require that a non-American pilot candidate must already hold a rating in an aircraft with a gross weight of over 12,500 lbs to be eligible to train in a US facility. I doubt many of the guys on the ramp have those types of credentials.

Sure it is nice to see hiring from within, but however if the personel from within don't meet the requirement then sorry.
upgrade throughout the company yes, if you can do it.

Not true. Sim training is cheaper and better, but not required in 705.

Perhaps everyone at this company is happy pushing their current tin around, and simply don't want this machine?

Not true. I know lots of guys who have gone down to the US after having flown nothing bigger than Metro IIs or PC12s to get type rated on Learjets and Citations. Took less than a month for paperwork to go through as well with no fingerprinting or mountains of paper to push.

Actually, it is a requirement to go to simulator for a 705 turbo-prop for training, as long as the simulator is located in North America. And yes, there are qualified pilots at Transwest for both position, which have >12.5 PPCs.

Just went through the entire process for training on a/c greater than 12,500 in the US and it was a very straight forward and easy. After initiating the online forms, I was approved by the Dept. of Justice in 15 days. Pretty fast when you compare it to Central American bureaucracy standards. On the 16th day I was in the Sheriff's office for my fingerprints (approved 2 days later) and was sitting in class after a grand total of 25 days.

No more BS,

Just to let you know there's actually such thing as a Saab340 PPC. Anything over 12.5 is a TypeRating and goes directly onto your license. No PPC card required.

Took me a lot of mucking around the CAR's, but I stand corrected.
(d) Initial and recurrent Pilot Proficiency Checks shall be conducted on a combination of a Flight Training Device certified to Level 4 or higher and a Full Flight Simulator or a combination of a Flight Training Device certified to Level 6 or higher and the aeroplane, if a simulator is available in North America.
In my head I was thinking of aircraft that don't have simulators at all.

Then what is the point of doing a PPC ride every year or six months? I think you still need a ppc card, otherwise why does every pilot have one? Your initial ppc counts as your type rating ride.

Gee H, after reading your enlightening views on the subject of Israel's Intifada Victory, I wonder if YOU might be Jihaad himself.

Piss off troll!

Both a type rating and a PPC are required, but only the PPC must be renewed semi-annually/annuallyo or bi-annually as a proof of competency.

To clarify even more,

The PPC is required if you are going to be flying the airplane on commercial operations. If you are rich enough to have your own Saab or whatever other type, only a type rating would be required to fly it privately.
