Did they at least reprint them on a fancy scroll or in a laminated seal?
One thing that really ticks me off is the fact you pay $55 for the medical renewal even if it's just a stamp on the back. I mean I can almost see the logic if it's an initial medical or lost medical when they mail you a completely new piece of paper, but when you just get a rubber stamp on your existing piece of paper and off you go......getting a $55 bill in the mail from Transport is a real kick in the nads.
About 4 years ago, I was surveying out of Whitehorse.
Washed my licence, medical and what-ever else was in the little folder.
Went to the local office in W'horse. Told them my story. The clerk told me that if I had lost them it would cost a fee, but if I could show they were just not readable, and that I wanted a replacement, they would be free.
Needless to say, I displayed what appeared to be a wad of kleenex. She said "good enough", and gave me a new medical form and licence for free.
We debated this very subject about 3 months ago. I say if it is in the computer, and the company records are current, why do we need to pack these documents around with us. One credit card type of licence with a data strip on it should suffice.
Sometimes the simplest of things get so complicated.
