Air Georgain Interview
Hi Folks,
I have an interview next week with Air Georgain and I was wondering if I could be some feedback. What kind of questions are asked in the interview? How is the sim evaluation? I have never flown a 1900 but I do have time in King Airs. Does anyone know what positions they are hiring for and for what bases?

The interview is pretty straightforward. They are hiring for direct entry Captains 1900 and F/O's.
The sim eval will probably consist of an normal departure, a steep turn or two, and engine failure (maybe) and a precision approach (maybe single engine). It really all depends on who is running the sim. Hold headings and altitudes, and it will go fine. Just relax, and fly the airplane.
I had heard that they are looking for quite a few direct entry captains. There are not many F/O's to upgrade at the moment, all are quite new or dont have time on type. Recent upgrades have been there 6 months.

There should be someone experienced in the sim with you. Like I said, relax and fly the airplane. Dont be too worried about the sim eval, stay in control. For the interview, review basic IFR procedures (approach ban, weather minima, etc). The interview may not be that technical, they want to get to know you.
Captains will be hired for Montreal, F/O's for anywhere. You would be able to bid back to toronto within a month or two.
Good Luck!

I guess the published mins on their website are for FOs, so do you know what they're looking for, captain-wise?
Oh, and thanks for all the input, it IS appreciated!

Not sure what they are looking for Captain-wise, it has been years since they have hired direct entry captains. I imagine time on type would be a dominant factor. Other than that, MPIC on similar A/C in scheduled environment would be an asset (like a beech 100, 200 or 350).

Just watch out who you get paired with. Sometimes, they call in line pilots (on reserve) to come and sit in on a sim eval. I heard one new upgrade recently failed his ride three times. Could spell trouble.Brint wrote:
You MAY get put in the sim with another new candidate. If so, who ever is running the sim will talk you through anything you need.

Good luck.
Air Georgian
We do not send out PFO letters from Air Georgian. If someone is interviewed and does not get offered a sim eval, they have not been successful during the interview. The simulator evaluation has no tricks and is used to ensure that the pilot can fly on instruments, take a clearance and give briefings. We use the Beech 1900D simulator at Flight Safety in Downsview but the candidates are NOT required to know about the B1900.
Yes, we are looking for direct entry Captains. This is an unusual for us and an excellent opportunity to join our organization.
