ANA grounds DHC-8's
This isn't good news, do you think this is a problem with manufacturing or maintenance? I've never heard of any real quality issues with bombardier aircraft... certainly not helping the rep of canadian technology in the eyes of Japan.

That's the first I've heard of Q400 problems. There's a bunch operating out there.

SAS Commuter and Widerøe in Scandinavia both had serious problems with the Dash 8 400 at first. It seems that the technical departments need a little experience with the machine on the line before everything goes as it should, but that`s not unusual with a relatively new type.
If I remember correctly, the Swiss launch company for the Saab 340 had so many problems that they sued either Saab or General Electric, or both.

Esse quam videre.
Taken by itself, the article sounds dire, but to put it in context, is that a high number of failures for a fleet? Were they actual failures (except for the nose wheel), or snags? I think its a PR problem for Bombardier but likely not a big deal. All the new a/c will be on warranty anyway.
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."
