Whats better . . . chicken or beef?
It kinda depends on what the airline or the corporation is (each one is a separte entity with moral, organization, pay, etc. varying) and what your preferences are. For me, I prefer the grilled chicken with jalapeño sauce.

If you are looking for glory, airline. However the only glory you get is when you first walk out of customs onto the awaiting masses of people that won't move over a foot to let you buy with your big suitcase. Big because you just been away on a 10 day pairing. And you gotta hurry home to do laundry because your off again for another 5 in 24 hours.
Corporate. Home everynight. You go through customs when you come back from vacation....not it being a part of work...every single firkin' day.

Wow, I don't think so. Corporate is very variable. I know one guy who flew about 800 hours in less than a year (I think he told me 10 months) for one hard driving boss-- took the Citation XL all over the world-- to the point where you don't know whether you're west or east. Wasn't home every night either, and when he was he was constantly on his cel phone. I also know of corp pilots who are spending a few weeks in Geneva and Madrid right now (not on vacation). And then, there are also some corporate pilots who sleep in every day til noon, and go fly a couple hours every week, spending more time in the gym, by the pool, or on the golf course than in the cockpit.I am Birddog wrote:Corporate. I have to agree here with the previous posts.
Jobs, no matter what it is, usually lose the glory sooner or later.
In the end, find something that "aint" going to kill you either with poor maint. or getting pressed beyond reasonable boundries.
I can attest to the fact that I have had some great gigs in many varied roles. It was up to me to make the best of it. However, the gigs I liked because of adventure, novelty and the like ...were the ones that will eventually cost you the love of your wife and kids.
I made a deliberate march toward a more boring job that pays well and will be around for a long time. On top of that I get 7 months off a year to be a dad / husband to a very grateful family.
When I get to the end of my working life (20 years hence) I will have filled my days with a variety of stuff that had nothing to do with aviation. And I like that. This comes from a guy who was very gung-ho to start.
