Hi ,
Thanks for taking time to read me.
I'm a commercial pilot since few weeks and I am looking for some tips about FO position anywhere ( canada , africa , caribean , asia ... anywhere

). I can move at anytime due to my single status .
I heard from a friend that I should check at Winair ... but already did , still waiting for an answer.
Does anybody have other informations about Winair ? or this kind of company hiring low timer ? ...
I will be really greatfull.
Thanks

They like to hire low time pilots... but.... they want people with twin otter time... so if you don't have any experience, you gotta go buy your own PPC, which costs around $8000US I believe. I wouldn't recommend this, however.

If i remember correctly the pay in not all that hot for the F/O's after you buy that type rating either. As far as the rest of the caribbean you pretty much need to have citzenship in one of the CARICOM countries in order to get the F/O positions because they can give them to locals with low time which there are a ton of. Most of the expat jobs are for people on light piston twins because there are not enough people with the PIC experience that is required. In order to get them now with a canadian license you need time on type due to some new requirements with the local civil aviation authority.
Africa is pretty much the same story unless you buy yourself a type.
You can PM me if you have any particular questions because I have flown in both. However I never actually flew for Win Air so as far as they go particularily I only know second hand.

the guy is willing to move wherever... i dont think hed be too worried about the pay. besides as an FO the money sucks anyways, im with the worst paying company (in terms of FOs) in Canada but you do what you have to.

You're right ... I'm not really worried about the pay ...
And I can also pay a PPC .
If I am not able to find anything to begin with , I think I'm gonna pay my instructor rating ( quite the same price of a PPC).
I could understand that a lot of company can't garanty any employement even if you pay your own PPC ...
My hope is getting down ...
At this time , I think the better place to go could be africa ... but I could also be wrong .

If you go out and buy a job....don't bother to apply to where I work, they'll start the campfires with your application. Simple as that.

I have this vision of a group of pilots dancing around a bon fire like something out of Lord of the Flies going Unga-Unga-Unga...

Yea! do not buy a PPC or a typer rating, you are screwing us all.
However if you get your instructor rating give me a PM and I can get you a job.
I do not make camp fires, but my shredder love that stinky CV flavor too and I usually let them....

AHAHAHAH ... sorry ... just thinking about every pilots who bought an instructor rating to find a job ... just to remind you that is less expensive than a PPC ( Instrutor rating : 7000 $ and add your life style during your formation ... )
Just think about that ... think more ... try again .. :p

So with Regency gone, can you "buy a job" anymore in Canada?
These "buy a job" programs are available in the US and all over Europe where people fork out big $$$ for these internship programs.
I know people hated them, but what Regency was doing is very common in the rest of the world.

heres a tip...get in your car, start driving, north/east/west whichever direction takes you away from home, closer to where the road ends. You'll have a job inside a week I garentee you..never been better times in canadian avition, no need to get your hope down, just bring some work gloves, a good attitude, and be ready to load airplanes, mow lawns, do all the bitch work for a bit and you'll get into the seat of SOMETHING..
Buddy of mine hit the road with the ink still dry on his CPL and had a job in 3 days - this was 3 weeks ago..
Cheers

Salaries are still a lot higher in the EU, generally speaking so your 30,000 pounds investment will still put you further ahead in the end then the guy in Canada who works for McWages for most of his career.
Scuba Steve is right... on the scale of how things generally go in Canada, this is a pretty good time.
When I looked for a job, you literally had to stalk the CP and compete with 100 lurkers just to get a job on the Ramp.
What's happened over the last few years is that people have realized that aviation is a dubious career choice at best, so there are less newbies. That and AC finally finally started hiring again after 10 years...

Just get out there. They are looking for people. I had 2 job offers before I had my cpl, and had my interview and was hired before I even had my cpl.
