How do the airlines do this/when do they do this?
Im guessing its not an average per passenger.
Maybe we are weighed at the checkin counter.
Thanks,

They use standard weights and its done by the dispatchers at the majors.

If you consider Jazz a major, the f/o uses the fms to calculate all the weights and if we're at an outstation with no data link, whips out the ol' 'whiz wheel' for the dash to do the c of g.
cheers

All you need is: a laptop in the cockpit
+
FOB/fuel density/estimated fuel burn
Pax (males/females/children/infants)
Zone breakdown(Y class/ J class) A/B/C/D
LD3/LD6
Baggage weight
Cargo weight
Catering weight
Punch these in and you're all set...computer gives you
ZFW/TOW/LDGW/ZFW CG/TO CG and the trim setting

They hand me a piece of paper and I sign it.
It's easier than it sounds.

At CanJet, the F/O does it using standard weights for pax seated in sections, standard bags broken down by compartment and fuel by quantity compared to a chart. Pretty simple really, and takes about a minute to calculate.

Just dumbed down for the lowest common denominator...and the fact that you just don't have time to work a W/B when you're folding seatbelts and sweeping the carpets..

Hey Phil,
I'm willing to bet you have prepped your fancy corp jet with a finer tooth comb than a WJ crew on a quick turn. You mean to tell me that when your passenger leaves the aircraft for a few days in Martha's Vineyard you simply leave the cabin be until he/she shows up for the return leg?
I have done minor grooming ever since I started flying: making sure there are no surprises in seat back pockets, picking up debris from seat rows, and yes, even folding seat belts to give a crisp/clean appearance.
Hell, I have flown with guys that actually go so far as to look for fingerprints to wipe from tables while waiting for the client to show.
It is part of the job to make sure your bird is looking pretty for the passengers. As long as it doesn't interfere with your duties up front, I see no problems.
Regards,
Neo
P.S. It isn't the KoolAid talking, I have yet to sip it, but is sure smells good!!!

Nice warm little bit of shameless self promotion neo.

Should have addressed it to WJ.
Lighten up. My comment was a joke for fuksake. FYI, the FA does our light cleaning on the road. If more is required we pay groomers. Our job is to fly and manage, not sitting around an airport burning up rest time.
Good luck with the koolaid. I prefer scotch.

"Oh yea!"
