hi all, you have the experience and could help me to choose!
i am 22 and new in canada so i have only an equivalent of Ontario high school, i am either gonna take 4 or 2 years aviation college program+flight training to become a pilot. so i would like to know if in the future when i ll be applying for an airline company, the 4 years program will help me more than the 2 years program to get the job?

Do the 4 year program, and study something that is totally non related to flying if you can. Engineering, computer science, something practical.

You'll want a backup incase the industry crashes again, you loose your medical, etc, etc.

I Concure.

I loved my time in School but knowing what I know now and how easy it is to lose a medical, I suggest if you are going to take the 4 years to study make it something to fall back on just incase, god forbid, something happens.

Rowdy can attest to how quickly the deck of cards can come down he was fortunite but you never know.

Why not cover both bases: take a 3-year aviation program at a college that has an articulation with a university. See what the industry is doing after 3 years. If you snatch a good job after the college program, go with it. If bust follows boom, at least you're three quaters of the way to a degree. Just a thought.

I would suggest a 4 yr program if you plan is to someday fly with an airline. I know that Air Canada would like their pilots to have a degree and of course their flight training. If you look in the states as well a lot of the air carriers are starting to want post secondary education as well.
