The Canjet maintenance department is a great place to work. We have a great bunch of guys working here. Definitly no compliants with management (maintenance department anyway). Outbases are all contracted out execpt for Toronto. Pay is not bad for Halifax, on par with Jazz if not a little better.

SPOT, your either new or management. Where I currently work there are three ex Canjet maintenance employees, myself included. I personally know that many of the guys there are actively looking for work. The people in maintenance are a great bunch but don’t tell me in the short time I’ve been gone that everyone has forgotten how many times management has kick us in the teeth! What just happened to the maintenance department in Montreal? Nothing like the guy there working his guts out for a year establishing a maintenance base to be replaced by contract workers! Do you know if you will have a job 12 months from now? Finally I can say I do! If they are looking for people it is to replace the people who have had enough and left or they terminated in September 2006, remember that one! I started with Canjet in 2000 and left this year so I know what I’m talking about. I’m not saying anyone should stay away but it’s not all rosy and go in with your eyes open.

It's not a great place these days. I used to work there before the shutdown (that was a s**tty day) and it was great back then but it seems more and more these days that they are going out of their way to piss off the people there now.

A couple of my good buds still work there and they aren't impressed to say the least with this Montreal Exceltech thing. It's been a real kick in the guts for them and a major motivation killer. There was also a recent nasty incident there a little while ago with one of their best mechanics that really has sealed the deal for most of them. It seems to be a poisoned environment now.

I'd stay away really.

I thought there were 2 737NG's coming? Does that do anything for the morale? Are people upbeat about the future or is it going nowhere fast?
What exactly happend in Montreal with Exeltech (The MRO?).
Thanks again for the insight.
Does not sound too good.

Aircraft type I think have no bearing on work conditions or morale, just another endorsement in your back pocket that you can use later. By the sounds of things CanJet is still being tight lipped on its future when it comes to its employees, I hope the guys (and girls) get something outta this NG thing but I'm sure none of them are holding their breath.

I have too agree with Troubleshot and Kandoo, but dont get them wrong......Canjet is a great place to work if, ........you are an apprentice wanting experience (you will get your log book filled quite fast), you keep the politics out of it, if you go in....do your job.....go home. If you get a job you will enjoy the people you work with maybe to the point where you will enjoy going to work, but dont go in thinking your going to help make it a Canada 3000, Skyservice...etc etc. Because its not going to happen, and your only going to end up disappointing yourself (trust me we've been there). KR will not let the company get to big because with big companies comes unions, associations,etc.... hence the Sept 2006 union bust.

As for the stories you hear, there are usually 3 sides to all stories, the 2 sides that are involved, and a bit of both.
Good Luck

From what I heard
There was a guy temporarily positioned to YUL to take care of their maintenance. His supervisor was not exactly happy with the way it was working and they ended the temp position when the schedule dropped in YUL for a few months. They are now looking for other options for YUL.

No matter what is said or promised, one should take caution because it will always be called temporary.

My understanding of the NG's is they are wet leases, so no endorsement course except for a couple required for signature. As you can see from the new posts it's not as SPOT made it out to be, but itsmedd is right on. If your starting out it's as good a place as any.

As was mentioned earlier, it's a great place to start as an apprentice but once you get the license your best bet is to move on.

Canjet... great people to work with, not the best to work for!
Substandard pay/benefits, iffy future.
