Westjet into CYKA and YEG to YXS?
About a year ago we were given Westjet RNP approach plates to study for WJ flights into Kamloops (CYKA) - but still no flights. Does anybody know if/when these are planned to start?
Also, today we saw a WJ flight Edmonton direct Prince George - is this a new scheduled flight? I couldn't find it listed on the WJ website.
Thanks

The eg-xs flight is likely either a charter or a ferry flight. What was the flight number? 9--- are usually ferries and 8--- or 5--- are usually charters.
Also, rumour has it that yka will happen once the runway is lengthened and an ILS is put in, despite the RNPs. Old info though.

The YEG - YXS leg was an extra section I believe, to position a plane to take people down to YVR. There were two Westjet flights headed to YXS (the other from YVR) with flight #'s starting with 8. Nobody made it into Prince George yesterday so Jazz and WestJet are sending extra sections to pick up the slack.

more to that story I heard, is that the YKA city council originally promised the money for when the time came, and when the time came... changed their mind. WJ went to all the work and expense to develop that approach, and wanted some risk sharing on a new location. If they don't want to play ball, to hell with them there's safer bets out there.WJ700 wrote:The YKA thing was in the news last year. The YKA Town Council wouldn't pony up financial guarantees like WestJet was given in YYG. WestJet thought it too high of a risk to try YKA when there was sure dollars elsewhere for a 50 million dollar airplane.
Drinking outside the box.
