US aviation weather?

Is there no real equivalent to NavCanada's GFAs in the US? I'm right on the edge of the Ontario GFA in CYQT, so I click on the American Aviation Weather link at the bottom of NavCanada's page to get the weather thats cut-off right nearby, but the US maps seem to lack anywhere near the detail of NavCanada's GFAs... am I looking in the wrong place? Or are ours just that much better? How do US pilots forecast their weather with a shoddy-pixelated map that just has isobars and fronts labelled..?

I know there are multiple charts with icing, convection, turbulence, etc but it doesn't even seem to mention cloud types, ceilings, or anything detailed close up like our GFAs.

If you go to http://skyvector.com/ they have weather provided from metars. Its a site that has updated WAC Charts and has a circle over select airports and then theres a color key. Check it out. They scan new WAC Charts as they come out and the whole thing is interactive. You can "right click" anywhere on the map and create a flight plan.
