Wannabe Controller Questions

Today I received a letter advising me that I have been accepted into the FSS trg pool. Trouble is, VFR is my first choice. Question: do the letters come out one for FSS, one for VFR, one for IFR, or do they tell you if you've made multiple pools on the same letter?

Let the waiting game begin - 547 days and a wakey....

When I got my letter, it said I was in the FSS, VFR and IFR Pool. I did not get a separate letter for the 3 of em.

Yes, the above is correct. They only send one letter (from my experience), outlining which streams you will be placed in. They don't send individual letters.

Sorry man, you're in denial. It's common sense it'd be only one letter, you're doomed to a poorly paid volatile career.

Call SHL if you're that troubled.

...and I don't need to go to Cornwall to get that, do I.

Letters? Wtf... I got a phone call and was told I was qualified for IFR, I guess things have changed since then.

I don't know if I would call it common sense that you would get one letter. You never know with big organizations like that...

You could call SHL and ask. They seemed pretty forthcoming in answering questions for me.

..looks like I didn't make it... four weeks after the aptitude test has gone by and I haven't heard anything...

I had to wait around 4 weeks before I heard about my interview.. and to answer an earlier question.. I was e-mailed a scanned letter telling me I was in both IFR and VFR pools..

4 weeks means nothing. Check the website, that's what I found most accurate.

Hehe, the Nav Canada website where you applied! It has all your updates and, for me at least it had all the updates before they called me! But no news can be good news eh!

I heard back 5 days after I hit the four week mark. They rang the house but I wasn't home, so I got an email telling me to call them back. My profile online didn't update until 3 days after..

Your profile on the website _will_ eventually say one way or another. It took a while for me, applying in Ottawa. Meanwhile people who tested at the same time in Montreal were getting calls 1 week after testing because things were supposedly urgent.
