US airlines

Post by Me2005 »

For a Canadian is it possible to get an interview for a US airline without FAA licence and without green card. If you get the job than you do your FAA licences... It seems that US majors are hiring a lot but I don't know if we as Canadians can take advantage of it
Thank you

I remember about 7 years ago, Congress was talking about allowing pilots in Canada to be able to work in the US just like nurses. Never happened because 9/11 happened shortly thereafter.
Green cards are hard to comeby unless you get married to an american or the airlines would sponsor you into the country. I don't think they're there yet.
These days, working for a US carrier is not much different than a Canadian carrier, unless we're talking about UPS and FedEx.

And why would any Canadian even want to work for a US airline!? With the exception of Fedex and UPS as mentioned above, their pay is even worse than in Canada, especially on the regional side. And most if not all of the majors are still in bankruptcy protection, not the most stable job in the world... If you want to get out of Canada and a better paying pilot job, cross one of the oceans.

Or, why would you want to live in the USA? cant even walk around with out worrying about which neighborhood your in because you'll get shot or mugged. Can walk outside at night? would rather live in Russia.
