Missed your flight? Here's what you can do ....

Post by Grey_Wolf »

OMAHA, Neb. - A Southwest Airlines flight headed to Connecticut made an emergency landing here after a person who missed the flight made a bomb threat, an airline spokeswoman said Sunday.

No explosives were found after the plane landed Saturday night, and the 137 passengers on Flight 1018 continued on to Hartford, Conn., after the unexpected layover of just over three hours, spokeswoman Christi Day said.

Day said the passenger who missed the flight made a statement about a bag and then made a bomb threat specific to Flight 1018. Day said she didn't know whether the threat was made to a gate agent in Las Vegas or by telephone.

Day had no additional information on the passenger. Las Vegas police, who assist with security at McCarran International Airport, did not immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press.

The threat was made at 8:40 p.m. CST, Day said, and the plane landed in Omaha about an hour later.

Passengers were bused to a field maintenance building while security personnel using bomb-sniffing dogs searched passenger and baggage compartments. Individual pieces of luggage also were searched on the tarmac.

Passengers went through a security screening before reboarding.

Southwest Airlines is based in Dallas.

That's like the stink bomb a guy used at my high school to get out of writing a final exam that day. Worked too.

There was a story I read recently about an italian? businessman who was going to be late for his flight, so he had his secretary call the airline for him and then he made a bomb threat concerning the aircraft. He believed that the flight would of course be delayed while it was investigated so he proceeded to the airport where he was duly arrested. Apparently he didn't realize that his secretary did as she had been instructed, she called the airline, gave her boss's name, then connected them to him.

The world is a very stupid place. :smt104

Having a standard that pilots lose their licence after making a mistake despite doing no harm to aircraft or passengers means soon you needn't worry about a pilot surplus or pilots offering to fly for free. Where do you get your experience from?
