I couldn't believe it when I saw this car parked outside an FBO in southern California, so I had to take a picture of it and post it on the internet so I could stand aside and watch the bees swarm. King Air Guy... BE20SKPR??? Don't get any ideas for your new ride.
Without naming any names, a buddy of mine at Georgian mentioned to me about a fellow Greek, mullet carrying Captain, who sported a licence plate that spelt CAPTAIN.
The only problem I see with that licence plate is that there are guys like
shankdown who'll rag on the poor guy. What's wrong with being proud of what you do?
Do dentists get all hissy when they see a plate that says 2THDOC?
If I had the coin, I might get one that said BIRDDOC ...would you rag on me for that?
Y don't u just go buy the Honda Pilot? Or the Lincoln Navigator? Or Lincoln Aviator?
I'm gettin my wings tattoeed tomorrow On my back!
That car is not the 350z, not the right back. Just looked it up on the website, deffinatly the Altima.
Not a bad car, wish my car was that new. 92 @ 380k, poor old gurl. It is a Toyota tho!
Wave
Gay eh?... Hmmm... so help me understand this if you can...
Our Nissan driver up there... "G3CAPTN", probably likes his job...
Maybe he's proud to be a G3 captain, or maybe it's his wife that bought him the plate?
Or his son or daughter, for his birthday, or Christmas maybe...
...and you guys are tellin' me that's "gay"? "Gay" to be proud of yourself?
or "Gay" to have the licence plate?.... Why??? What's gay about it?
Where I work there's a couple guys... not been at it long, that have the plates 747mec and 767mec.
That's not something I'd do (partly 'cause it discounts all the other airplanes I work on),
but they got them early on out of pride, nothing else. They've taken some ragging for it.
But I'll bet when they see their kids point at the plate with a great big smile on their faces,
all the ragging is worth it.
I don't see it as gay at all... I think you guys are just a bit anal about the unspoken oath
you feel you've taken not to brag. Bloody hell, if you're proud of yourself,
why not treat yourself to a little pat on the back?
Like I said before, the only down side I see is the ragging that comes from the rest of you...
and half of that's coming from those who are probably just jealous anyway.
well heres the way that I look at it. personally I wouldn't get the plates.
how ever though, I am sure I am not the only one here that has noticed it either.
tell me what the difference of sitting in a bar braggin to to very chick that walks by you that your a pilot, your king of the world your better than every one else, or putting plates on your car.
personally I do find it funny but I would much rather look at plates like that than listen to all the bullshit from half of the pilots out there about how great they think they are.

Oh well heck. That´s all part of living before you end up in the phase of shopping for Cadillacs, Preparation H, Polident and Depend.
Sounds like the voice of experience.... I thought every car in Central America had neon lights, body kits and stereo systems to keep the neighbors awake till dawn.
Ever gone by a fire fighters vehicle and not seen IAFF stickers everywhere, for that matter ever gone be a fire fighter without the T-shirt that tells everyone what he/she does. I have a Paramedics Union sticker in my windshield but I will give you some good reasons. From time to time it gets me out of speeding tickets or parking tickets and stops the tow company from towing my vehicle from behind the station.
Nothing wrong with a little pride in what you do. Nothing wrong with getting out of a few speeding tickets and really nothing wrong with not having to spend $85 to get your truck out the tow inpound.
And hey, he got someone to take a picture of his license plate and post it on a national website.
With a plate like that, u would probley get a ticket. I did mention when getting a speeding ticket once, that I was a pilot, and had just been flying, so I felt like I was going slower. I think it also hepled that I metioned I was a student, making crappy $$$ and away from home.
