Almost looks more like a ground collision, I am surprised some of those large bits wouldn't come off in the slipstream.

I got more pics of this incident. I'll post when I get to my other comp.

Basically the whole dome separated and got bounced around by the fan until it was spat out through the cowling.

One of the first CFM-56 unconained failures that I can think of.

I suppose even a Rolls Royce can have a flat tire.
I am sure the FAA, the NTSB, the engine manufacturer, the engine overhauler and Southwest Airlines will get to the bottom of the incident and if there is a fix, it will be dealt with. If it was a "one of", Oh, well, shit happens.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

i think the crew deserves a pat on the back!

as for the two stuardesses that paniced they should get their walking papers.
its thier job to ensure the pax feel safe until the end of the flight and if they
brake down and cry in front of the pax it shows how poorly trained they are,
or unfit for the job!
