JAZZ the Axis of Evil??

Post by tod »

So apparently Jazz is the new axis of evil. Or so a lot of company's management think.

Jazz is taking lots of guys from the smaller companies accross the country and, larger companies are taking lots from Jazz. Such is the cycle.

How heavily is Jazz weighing references when many companies are less than thrilled that thir pilots are leaving to Jazz. Are they taking them with a grain of salt?

I hear that several chief pilots have been calling Jazz and telling them to stop taking their guys.

Any input?

And Jazz apparently went to WestJet and asked them to stop taking all their pilots too!

What comes around goes around... If the smaller companies want to retain people, then perhaps it is time they improve their conditions. Yes, there will always be those who want to move onto bigger and better, but there are also those who would be inclined to stay if their lot were a little better.

The music will eventually stop, and things will be as they once were.

Just pray that you have the type of Chief Pilot that understands the importance of moving on to the airlines for some guys. It sucks that they keep losing guys to Jazz but hopefully he/she will not try and blackball you in order to help their current company. I can't imagine working somewhere when it was suspected that i got blackballed by the CP just to keep me there. I know for a fact that there are many CP's and owners out there that are HUMAN and want the best for their people in the end.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is against the law for someone to give a bad referene these days. Which by the way makes me wonder, why even bother with references if this is the case?

It's not illegal when you sign a sheet saying that you authorize your references to release your employment info to Jazz. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I read the fine print when I signed that sheet at the initial interview. I'm guessing it would be illegal if Jazz just called your CP, and he/she gave them your info (good or bad) without your permission.

Whatever........

.........all companies bask in their own magnificance when the pilot pool is large demanding crazy hours and low pay for the privilege of flying for them and bitch when the pool dries up and pilots move elsewhere. Nothing's changed. Enjoy the good times while they're here!!
