Question about turing Jazz down
Hello to all!
Lets say you attend the interview sim etc. and are offered a position, but then say sorry you can't accept at this time because of a bond at your current job, will they still consider you in the future or are you blacklisted for life! How long can you hold off from accepting once they offer you a position?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! PM if you wish.
Thanks SC

Depends. I have heard that they delayed people for courses on the request of the pilot, I have also heard them make you a now or never offer. I delayed my course my 2 months, a friend of mine by 10 months. So I guess it's up to the hiring staff at the time, and how bad they need you...or if they feel it's because your waiting for another job.

The only thing you can do is be totally honest with them. If you're offered the job, really do want to work at Jazz but can't attend the G/S date given to you, just tell them why. My guess is that they would be pretty understanding, especially if its going to cost you money to come. (ie breaking a bond etc etc..) Personally I think that shows a lot of character on your part and should be viewed as a positive.

They are very understanding as long as you are honest with them. I delayed by a few months for the same reason, I told my employer at the time that I would stay until the end of the year and I wanted to honor that. In my opinion, if you have a good reason for not being able to go right away then they are fine with that. However if you are offered a job and just say that you are not interested, then Im not sure how that goes over. Why waist each others time if you have no intention of going?

I delayed 3 months.... no problem! They actually gave me the dates of the upcoming classes and asked me which one I wanted. I was really impressed!

Good to hear, thanks for the help everyone....Looks like honesty is the best policy!

That sounds pretty good on their part actually. I'm impressed.

Senority is more precious than anything else in that type of system. Just look at how bitterly the CDN guys and AC guys fought(and still are, I think) during the 'merger'.
I wouldn't delay unless there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Same here. I delayed by 4 months and was given two course dates in April '08 to choose from. I choose the latter. Like someone already said, just be straight up and honest with them.maxofthenorth wrote:I delayed 3 months.... no problem! Hope to see some of you April 21!
