Any one know whats going on with this company lately? I heard a rumour that lay offs were occurring.

The one I heard second hand from someone that works there, is that they're looking into getting out of heavy maintenance and just doing component overhaul and interior work. And layoffs? Just another day at good ol' Field!

Yeah, I guess they dropped 3rd party maintenance and are only doing avionics upgrades and executive interior installs. I have no idea how many people would have been cut. My guess is quite a few. They had a lot of mechanics and sheet metal bashers the last time I was there.

I heard (actually on good authority) that they lost a ton of money on a contract and it was the "straw". A lot of the guys are under contract to Avmax for the Shaw of Dubai's RJ 85's getting redone. Its quite a project. Avmax has been hemoraging experiance over the last year and they couldn't do it man power wise so they got Field to supply man power. Suncor is moving a plane into the Field hanger as well. I heard that when the layoff's hit production mangers down took it on the chin.

Suncor is moving a plane in for work or are they just going to use the hagar space?

Nope just for the space. She's brand new. I know the guy who's taking care of her.

yea they got out of heavy maintenance, they only want to do interiors and side shop. they are moving all the sheet metal into the repair and overhall, and cutting back the maintenance dept is going to 5 - 10 people and thats it. they are renting out all the bays excep for 1. it looks like field is going out of bussiness here in calgary or they are following the field east way of doing bussiness????? not owning anything and just renting as req.
