Hey, just wondering how long you guys have been in the candidate pool, and when you found out about the IFR training?
I've been in the candidate pool since December 2007, and I am feeling a bit discouraged if there is Vancouver IFR training coming up in June that I haven't been selected for.

I've been in the candidate poole since February 2007. In July 2007 I got call for YVR IFR starting in December 2007, but had to decline it due to personal reasons. Got second call in January 2008 for YVR IFR June course. SHL is trying to give you as much notice as possible. In my case it's 6 months in advance.

Good luck to all.

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anybody is interested in sharing accommodation in YVR while on training?
I'm confirmed for June YVR IFR course. It would be a good way to save some money.

If you find that frustrating, imagine how the guys on the seniority bid list feel seeing guys come off the street and get in ahead of them.
It's all relative.

Anyone know exactly where the YVR ACC is actually located? The NavCanada site says Surrey, whereabouts? How far of a commute from downtown would this be?

In Rootin Tootin Newton

I hope that new 3 green bike shed has a good lock on it.

From downtown it would be a 30 minute Skytrain ride and a 20 minute bus ride not including waiting for the bus.

Thanks for the replies guys. Where do most controllers and trainees live then? White Rock, Richmond, Surrey itself? I take it people aren't into that long public transit commute, and I don't imagine driving is any better.
