Back in the old SA (Surface Analysis were replaced by METARs and had a slightly different language) days they used to write W0X0F.
That's before that vv stuff, you could see 1X for 100ft obscured now you see VV1. Weather 0ft Obscure 0sm in Fog was "W0X0F"
F

Re: nice vis in yeg
I was working the midnight this morning, and I feel real bad about a certain Flightcraft. Started taxiing at about 5:35 with descent vis, then it crapped out. Taxi'd him all over the airport trying to find a runway with legal departure. Don't know how long he waited, my shift ended at about 6:15. On a side note, the VV 100 was interesting, I saw the caravan overfly this morning and the moon real nice. Reminded me of my flying days in CYRB. Woxof only in the last 50' of approach

The obs are still done using the SA code, more or less. METAR abbreviations have replaced the old SA ones (so fog is FG now, not just F), but the weather gets written out the old way on paper, before a computer translates it into a METAR. But if the weather were bad enough, the observer would still be recording W0X0FG.fougapilot wrote:Back in the old SA (Surface Analysis were replaced by METARs and had a slightly different language) days they used to write W0X0F.

no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

We overheard that jazz was planning to land in YXD to wait out the junk wx. Did they end up going to city centre?

So... how much would centre-line lighting cost??? Maybe YEGAA could turn down the gas on the big fireplace outside of Second Cup and scrape a few pennies for the next time lower than standard departure minima are needed.
