Bombardier C Series
Looks like Bombardier is taking order for the C series now. Anticipated to be in service in 2013.
Re: Bombardier C Series
OK.... and what does this have to do with Jazz? Q400's have been around a while and they sure are in no rush to pick any up!
Re: Bombardier C Series
Scope and now fuel prices. I wouldn't worry too much though, Jazz has had the opportunity to scoop some 400s for cheap for a while now and has not made a move.
Re: Bombardier C Series
I think the reason you do not see any Q400's at Jazz is because it is not really a priority as far as AC is concerned. They will keep on fixing and flying the existing dash fleet until it is no longer economically feasible to do so. Until the day comes that Jazz gets out from under the control of AC via the CPA and finds other "clients" not much will change.
Re: Bombardier C Series
5 years too late. Embrarer has been killing the quebecois plane makers for sometime now....Not sure the tory governement is into giving out anymore freebies to prop them up unlike the last corrupt liberal gov...Looks like a cool plane though, but whose gunna buy it? Not AC nor Jazz, or half of the regionals in the U.S. who just bought the 170/190s...
As for jazz getting next gen RJ's...or Q400's? I would think all bets are off until after we have labor peace...Im sure it will happen eventually, when is the million dollar question.

North America isn't the only market BBD is looking at. Ever heard of China/India?ozguy wrote:5 years too late. Re: Bombardier C Series
India has alot of emb 170/190's...check out all the postings for type rated pilots.....Yes there are other markets....however they dropped the ball big time....They talked about larger airplanes for along time, Emb of Brazil is the one that actually captured the market and designed the first large regional jet....If it were not for the Liberal government of Canada and there corrupt practises of handing out subsidies for Bombardier of QUEBEC...they would have went the way of most unprofitable companies that go out of business every day in N. America.
Re: Bombardier C Series
If it wasn't for the Brazillian Government EMB would have gone out of business much sooner than Bombardier. The C-Series will take advantage of many new technologies that the 170/190 do not have. The fuel burn specs look pretty good. Emb may have been first but BBD will be better in my humble opinion. Like stated in another post/thread, all Aerospace companies are subsidized. This though provides jobs which means pay cheques to people who buy houses and groceries who employ other people who pay taxes.....etc.

Re: Bombardier C Series
ozguy, you'd be pretty naive if you think boeing, airbus, EMB... are not government subsidized. Only difference in Canada is that the public is aware of it...
Re: Bombardier C Series
EMB and Airbus are directly subsidized. Boeing is indirectly subsidized through military research contracts.
Either way, there's still a lot of money available; if the market believes this plane can make money, it will provide financing.
I hate welfare as it is; welfare for multinational corporations is even worse.

Re: Bombardier C Series
Northwest has expressed their interest in the C-series to replace some of their DC9s.
My guess is the C-110 will do ok. Not sure about the C130, since it might have difficulty facing off against the A320 or 737s.....

Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.
