Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
Just wondering if someone could give me a detailed description on how to claim our premiums paid on our income tax. I am aware that it must be more than 3% of income. I assume you put it on line 330 but using tax software, it asks for receipts. Just wondering how others are doing it?

This is going to sound really dumb, but when it comes to Tax's I really am.
Just so I understand, we can claim the amount we paid out in the benefits at tax time.

You can claim your premiums for medical & dental insurance (3rd party), but not what you paid for STD/LTD. It was approx. $1800 last year for the family rate.
The company should break this down for you if you ask nice.(gloria M. in yhz) If they don't, talk to your ALPA rep.. Jazz brought on this paper work mess when they increased our premium share to 50%. (b4 that, the cost was low enuf that if you didn't have lots of other medical expenses, it never made it above the 3% limit, so you didn't bother asking)

Re: Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
So just wondering...Is nobody going to claim these benefits on their taxes? I would like to know exactly where and how to claim this $1800.
Re: Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
Check the memos from last month, there was one about this situation.
I went back and found it, take you Dec 24th pay stub in and use the YTD totals for tax purposes.

Re: Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
Thanks for bringing this topic up. I didn't know about it. It didn't change my federal return but saved me $380 on my Quebec return.
Re: Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
On the 24th Pay stub in the YTD summary, are the usable amounts
-Dental
-EHC
And what line number do they apply to in the QB province?
These things are hard to figure out
Thanks

Is that your mom?
Re: Claiming Benefit Premiums on Tax Return
For QB I used line 381. I entered the results from "Schedule B"
I had already filed so I needed to send in form TP-1.R-V, Request for an Adjustment to an
Income Tax Return.
