Re: Frozen ATPL
sure, on a cessna 172! No kiding, on any plane requiring just one crew member. If you need a copilot in your navajo because the autopilot is not working or any other reason, you still can act as PIC. A Frozen ATPL gives the same single privilege than a written IATRA, to be in a right seat of a 2 crew plane. Some companies require an ATPL for plane rated single pilot, like a king air, for special aggrement with their client(s). I hope it anwser your question.

Re: Frozen ATPL
I think the expression comes frrom the ability to "Use the results of the exam for further use" which means that if you are employed as a First Officer on a large airplane which requires a type rating and you have enough experience to write the exams but not to hold the ATPL, the exam marks are "frozen" and the 2 year expiry is no longer a factor. As soon as you get all the qualifications, you can obtain the ATPL without having to rewrite the exams. All that is required is to obtain a type rating on a heavy airplane. A type rating on an airplane that requires a type rating because it is high performance does not count, it has to be on an airplane with a MTOW in excess of 12,500 lbs. A Boeing 747 counts but a Beech King Air 200 does not.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
