YVR work
Ok Ive got my CPL and got my MIFR so why the hell cant I get a job in my home town. I dont want to work the Ramp like a sucker and get treated like someones bitch flinging bags and scubbing toilets. Im not going to pay for a god dam PPC like some rich little prick.
Why cant their be jobs In Vancouver where someone would actually want to live. Im from here and I hate it when people move here from somewere else and take my job. I was connected to an opening in the middle of nowhere being a F/O on some twin cessna or something but I couldnt move to some town of 1000 people. How does a guy who wants to fly with an Airline get started in YVR.
Thanks JRoc

Try the second post...
Jroc, although your frustration is understandable, your attitude is one of the most ignorant ones i have heard in a long time. Congrats on the CPL and MIFR. But if you want to work for an "airline" you have to do the dirty work too.
The dirty work will make you a better pilot, I have worked doing various jobs at YVR over the past 5 years and I too have a CPL however i am now with a company that is going places. There is no way to find out who is hiring if you arent around the airport working and getting to know people. By doing the other airline related jobs you learn the customer service, dispatch, baggage handling and yes the toilet scrubbing part of the industry. We have all done it and it makes you appreciate flying that much more.
Also, you may not want to buy a PPC, nor should you but if you expect a company to invest in training you then they sure as hell better be sure that you are worth it. We can all bullshit our way through an interview. The best way to see if a company whats to take a guy or girl on and train them is to have them do other work within the company and see if they are a hard worker.
If I were you i would drop the attitude and get a real job that will make you appreciate a flying position when you do get one.
And by the way, the people moving into Vancouver, taking "YOUR" jobs are doing so because it one of the most sought after bases in the country and they have earned it by working hard. You should try it.

JRoc,
So just how old are you? Sorry, but you come across as a self serving spoiled arrogant kid who should have waited to do your training until you had grown up. Did you do NO research before you started? I could go on for while with a rant but I am fairly certain you would miss the point.
Good Luck, I think you'll need all that you can get.

This board has really lost its charm...!
Here is some serious advice,
JRoc, in YVR, you can go purchase a job for about 5000$ and then fly for free for the next few years!

Thanks for the imput guys :)
My Dad, keeps telling me that PIC is the most valuable time to get. But He knows a guy that operates some twin turbines that I could be F/O on in the spring it would mean moving but it would get my career going without all the BS that people subject themselves to. They pay pretty decent to. Im just not sure what to do.

Sounds like youd be a good candidate for Coastal Mountain Air.
I very closely know what goes on in that company and the pilots from this summer, and their two pilots who flew for them this summer just quit. Sounds like the company will be looking for arrogant pilots again, youll fit in great with the CP! Sounds like you have money too, so living on $50 a day will really float your boat while living in one of the most expensive locales, Pemberton.
Give the CP a call, tell him you are rich and arrogant, and furthermore tell him what your dad said "PIC is most important," and within minutes i assure you will be hired.
I dont know which topic here i should be raving about more, your stupidness or Coastal Mountain Air........... needless to say you two will get along great.

I think I've got a great idea for a business that you and I can get involved in!
