English and French application difference

Post by Me2005 »

Hello,

I just updated my French application on aircanada.com and I was surprised because questions about language spoken and writhen have changed. They now ask how you would rate your English and Spanish. On English site they still ask how you would rate your English and French.

So, if it is still the point system they use why they don't use the same questions in both languages? For example if I apply on the French site and I speak English and French and don't speak Spanish I will get less points than if I apply on the English site?

Here is copy paste English application:

Questions for: Pilot
Questions
1. How would you rate your oral/written communication skills in French?

2. How would you rate your oral/written communication skills in English?

Here is French application:

1. Comment évalueriez-vous votre français oral et écrit?

2. Comment évalueriez-vous votre espagnol oral et écrit?

My Spanish abilities begin and end with the ordering of beer, or moijotos. I'm not sure if that level of fluency is listed on the language proficiency form.

My guess is that it is because English is the International language of aviation and assumed that you have proficiency in it. If you are applying as a Francophone it is expected that you will speak English so they give points on the next language (Spanish). Not all Anglophones speak French so it is logical to ask if the applicant has French abilities. I believe if you apply as a Francophone you have to pass the English proficiency test.

Tenemos vuelos con destinos a mexico, costa rica, venezuela y colombia. Si tienes la capaz hablar espanol te va ayudar con mucho mas que pedir las cervezas. Arriba las faldas!
