Insurance

Post by lupin »

Good day,

I am assembling a small C-150 and was wondering who the better/cheaper insurance companies are. I have already contacted COPA but their quote was quite high so I will shop around before I decide...

Thanks

Last year my Cessna 150 cost me about $1450 for $30000 hull air and ground as well as $1000000 liability, this year was about $1350 and I use Park Insurance out of CYPK but the actual insurance is by AIM

BTW what did COPA quote you?

Copa quoted 1950$.

I don't have much C-150 time (3 hrs) most of my time is on the C-172 (about 100 hrs). They also demanded that I do 10 hrs on the C-150 with an instructor.... I just got checked out on the local flying club C-150 but apparently that isn't enough..... I will be shopping around for more quotes.

I was considering not insuring the hull.... My C-150 is worth 35000-40000 (Fresh engine overhaul in 2008,paint,interior and avionics) but paying 5% of aircraft value per year seems like a steep price.

Give PSA a try. www.psains.com

Though Im with COPA/Marsh myself.

To be honest though, for someone with about 100hrs TT, insuring a 150 with a hull value of 40,000 dollars, paying 1950 doesnt sound too absurd. My insurance costs me 1400 on a hull value of 32,000.

I think, if you dont like the expensive insurance, then dont insure the hull. Else, bite the bullet.

I'd pay that in a heart beat. I pay $2500 annualy for my car that is valued between $2-3000. Ticket and accident free. Liability only.

Gonna' love aircraft ownership.
