The only thing really amazing about this is that some pilot would take an airplane they don't own worth $2,000,000.00 plus dollars and do that in he middle of no ware so some one else could video his or her great piloting skills. Way to go boys and gals i hope some one some day takes some thing you own and takes a huge risk with it just to video it.

Well we decided not to leave our load of camp shit right on the ice where we were landing..Makes sense to put it off to the side, right by where the camp boss was videoing. Might be better for the next time we land not to have to dodge obstacles . I can't believe some one on here actually posted saying we did this for shits and giggles...*shakes head at ignorance*

Sorry if i hurt some feelings. There are a pile of people that do stuff just for shits and giggles. Yes Borek does have there share of them just like everyone else. Just go review every incident Borek has had i am sure you will find a few that you will shake your head at and think what the hell were they doing. If that isn't enough do a search on you tube. Some shit pulled on there is amazing and these people don't own a dime in the planes.

I have been in this industry long enough to see my fair share of stupid stunts. Video cameras are a dangerous thing and some people will do some stupid shit just to show there friends how good they really are. I now for a fact transport has investigated more then 1 crash were they found video camera rolling at the time. Although it does make their job easy to figure out what the pilot was up to. Have you never watched videos were the co joe is busy taking a video of the short field landings. Ya some will say it only takes 1 to fly a twin otter and lots fly it like it only takes 1. If the copilots got time to video why are they there.

I'm sure that you could say that about alot of accidents for as long as heavier than air equipment has been around. No doubt there were people saying exactly that at Kitty Hawk and we all know how that turned out. Damn wreckless Wright brothers.....Borek has operated at one time or another on EVERY continent in the world and in THE harshest of operating enviornments. Their record stands for itself.

To take the video! LOL! I digress. I personally don't think that safety is compromised by have one pilot holding up a camera (not looking through it) while monitoring the guages, airspeed and getting ready for flaps 20. All of the FOs I have flown with were more than capable of capturing some video of the amazing places we were lucky to operate out of and still ensure that their own PNF duties were covered. Is this done all the time, of course not. If the vids and pics weren't taken, how would anyone know why Borek pilots have the best job in the world. IMHO of course.....Oh and if you havent noticed, the videos you do see show a beautiful day with good conditions, because on most of the other days it was poor weather, considerable crosswind, marginal landing strip, etc, etc, and the FO was working hard with the Capt to ensure a safe arrival and departure.

I don't have the time to look thru all of them. I'll take you at your word that there might be some video of a crew having fun (and not by any means limited to Borek) with an amazing and incredibly capable airplane flown by some of the most experienced pilots in the world. I'm sure I've done it too, and I'm not going to apologise ('cause its a sign of weakness, remember?). I loved my time on the machine and enviornment I was in. If something "less than professional" was ever done in an airplane, it was probably in a Twin Otter.

PS If you haven't flown the Twin Otter and learned what it can do very safely, most of what you see on youtube probably looks reckless. Trust me, it's not as bad as it looks.

You are aware it's possible to hold a camera in your hand and still monitor the gauges and look forward? Maybe I'm just more talented then you at multi-tasking? Don't comment on things you don't know.

Look, I think your gettin what you asked for when you started out by assuming that they were doing that crater landing just for the video. That sort of flying is what we do (or used to do in my case). Like I said, to the non twin otter type some of it may look crazy but its what we have to do sometimes to get the job done and its not as bad as it looks. And no, I'm not suggesting the racing twin otters was getting the job done. It was a couple of crews having fun.

They're a million reasons why Twin otters have a co-pilot, Landing them is not one of them.
